So, the 3DS will be coming soon, and one of the cool features of the 3DS will be taking 3D photos and making a Mii out of the you or your friends.
Check out a video in the source, but in the above image, you can easily see how well it appearantly will work.
I’m just glad that the 3DS will include Mii’s, but this is an added bonus.

How much do you expect to pay for the new DS? 200? 100? How would you feel if I told you that it would be $40?!?! Sorry to disappoint you, but it’s going to be $300!!!! It’ll be released in two colors: Aqua blue and cosmo black. On February 26, 2011, it will come bundled with these things:
• Nintendo 3DS, itself
• Nintendo 3DS charging stand
• AC adaptor
• Stylus
• 2GB SD memory card
• Six augmented reality cards for use with the 3DS’ camera
• Quick start guide
• Instruction book
• The warranty :O

Sounds good, no? No, not really. Not for $300!! Well, what are the full list of features?
• The new 3D screen that you can view without glasses
• Stereographic camera to take 3D pictures
• Total rip-off analog stick from the PSP
• Backwards compatible with Nintendo DS+DSi
• Parental controls like the PSP has
• Mii’s
• Home menu while in games
• Spotpass + Streetpass: Automatically connect to WiFi or other 3DS’s to download their data. This means that you have less security and your 3DS will automatically update its firmware.

Okay, a lot of old stuff finally in the new DS, but what about specs?
• Size: 5.27 in. length, 2.91 in width, 0.82in depth
• Weight: 8.11 oz.
• Top screen is 3.53 in, widescreen and displays stereoscopic images without the need for glasses. 800×240 (400×240 pixels per eye) resolution.

• Wireless LAN supports WPA/WPA2 security keys. A 2.4Ghz transmitter is included for crosspass mode.

• Connection: Game card slot, SD memory card slot, ac adapter, charging station, headphone jack.
• Sound: stereo speakers on the top screen.
• Stylus: maximum length is 10 centimeters.
• Battery life was not announced
• Game card: Nintendo 3DS game cards, which are the same size as DS game cards. These can hold a maximum amount of 2GB of data at launch.

Nintendo released a new firmware update for the DSi yesterday, and was the first “incremental update in over a year”. Nintendo said that this update done some “behind the scenes” updates but in our reality it blocked a few flashcards. Also Nintendo released an update for the Wii that still says system version 3.4 but removes all homebrew from the Wii. So yea, don’t update quite yet ;)

Blocked Flashcards:

  • M3i Zero
  • Acekard 2i
  • Supercard DSTwo
  • iPlayer
  • DSTTi

500x_dsspecs.jpg

Speculated Pricing is around $200-$300 its a guesstimate do not quote me. its a range from researching the pricing

DIMENSIONS (when closed): 5.3 inches x 2.9 inches x 0.8 inches

WEIGHT: 8 ounces

TOP SCREEN: 3.52 inch widescreen display / 800×240 resolution (400 pixels for each eye during 3D gameplay)

BOTTOM SCREEN: 3.02 inch touch-screen display / 320×240 resolution

CAMERAS: Three cameras, two on outer casing, one above top screen / 640×480 resolution (0.3 megapixel)

STORAGE MEDIUM: Cartridge slot for both 3DS and DS cards (3DS cards have a 2GB capacity “at launch”, suggesting larger sizes to come) / SD memory card slot

WIRELESS: 2.4ghz / 802.11 wi-fi / Can communicate with other consoles or internet when in sleep mode / wireless can be switched off to preserve battery life

CONTROLS / INPUT: Touch-screen / D-pad / 360-degree “Slide Pad” (the analog stick) / motion sensor / gyro sensor / 3D “depth slider” can reduce (or even disable) 3D effects in games

STYLUS: 4-inch stylus (when full extended)

AUDIO: Stereo speakers (includes stereo headphone out jack)

BATTERY: Lithium ion battery (lifespan details TBA)

PARENTAL CONTROLS: The 3DS will include parental controls

Chipset: While Nintendo is normally very closed-mouthed about the actual hardware used in their systems, there has been some news recently about the graphics chipset used in the 3DS. You might be surprised to find out that it’s not your typical NVIDIA Tegra, but instead some new PICA200 chip (yes, PICA, hold your giggles to the end please).

The DMP PICA200 (PICA200, I choose you!) appears to be quite capable to be honest, it’s a 200mhz chip that will put out 15.3 million polygons per second, 800 million pixels, and full screen anti-aliasing. All in all, a most capable graphic chip powering the next generation of portable gaming. Of course, we don’t have much other information about the 3DS (like the CPU), but overall it’s looking positive and should meet expectations.

e3-2010-miyamoto-interview.jpg

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime may be committed to improving the online experience on the Big N’s platforms, but legendary designer and Guy Who Makes Things Happen™ at the company, Shigeru Miyamoto, doesn’t seem inclined to exactly reinvent network play with 3DS. “We look at [online] more in terms of what can we do to provide that Nintendo flavor or magic to that community or connection experience,” he told IGN Australia in an E3 interview the site just now found behind its virtual sofa cushions.

“One of the ways that we’re looking at doing that, is the idea of really strengthening the tag mode functionality,” he explained, referring to an “always on” data-sharing feature most famously employed by Dragon Quest IX on DS. “We think that there will be some unique ideas that come out of that, and that it will have a very unique Nintendo flavor to it.” So, not voice chat or friend code-free multiplayer then?

Speaking of exchanging things with other 3DS owners: what of Miis? Already transferable from Wii to current DS titles such as Tomodachi Collection and Personal Trainer: Walking, Miyamoto commented that the pint-sized avatars moving to-and-fro between future platforms is “something that we’re definitely giving consideration to,” and that there’s a desire to “continue to try to allow people to use their Miis on different Nintendo systems going forward.” We can certainly get down with the idea of 3D Miis — or, as we call them, “3Miis.”

We’re terribly sorry for the recent downtime the site has incurred, but we’ve been hard at work to bring the site back up. We’ve had issues with a few things including hosting issues as well as a bit extra, which I’ve outlined in our forum, but we’re back now and we’re working hard towards being better than ever before. Keep your eyes peeled for a forum update within the next few days that will include a section for average members to post news for the website in. That news can be taken and posted up by a staff member, giving full credits to the user, of course, and will be a great way that the community can take part in making the site a better place.

Also, it’s HIGHLY advised to enter the Brewology Network through www.Brewology.com instead of using one of the mirrors like WiiBrew or PSPBrew because we’re going to be adding news posts that are specific to the Brewology page itself about the latest tech trends and what-not and the only way to see such information is to enter the site through www.Brewology.com. Doing this will also filter the news from every aspect of our site into one convenient page for you to view! So please, if you haven’t already, make sure to add the Brewology page to your bookmarks or homepage or just plain enter it in when accessing the site.

Thanks for everything folks. Again, sorry for the downtime, but welcome back to the Brew!

Shigeru Miyamoto

Japan honored a man who many would say single-handedly changed modern video gaming all by himself. Shigeru Miyamoto was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Japan for his revolutionary approaches and renovations to the video gaming industry. Chances are you’ve heard of this guy before. His name is plastered all over the place in the Nintendo community. Why? He’s the brains behind the meat and potatoes of the Nintendo lineup. Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario – the gearhead that orchestrated all of these franchises from the ground up is being honored in a big way and boy does he deserve it.

Miyamoto, a man that didn’t come from riches, didn’t graduate from the finest college, and didn’t outright steal his otherwordly and sometimes outrageous ideas for video gaming certainly deserves this great honor. It goes further though! The Nintendo DS and Wii were honored with the Distinguished Service Award for helping to “further expanded the horizons of gaming culture”. Talk about one happy time for Nintendo… but in all fairness, the company and the man himself are truly deserving of such awards.

It seems like the EZ-Flash Team has been able to create another work-around for the latest DSi firmware update. Unlike the R4i Team’s bypass method, you only need to update the firmware of your flashcart instead of buying a new one, all together.

This is good for those who have already purchased the EZ-Flash flashcart but bad for Nintendo. The piracy rate on both the DS and PSP is disturbing.

A while ago I posted a few news posts about the latest firmware (1.4) for the DSi that included some new features like the ability to sync your Facebook account with your console. Also included in the update was some anti-piracy measures but it appears that those measures have now been dooped and the firmware has been opened by R4i Team. No other details are obtainable at this time because of the team’s site is in Engrich.
