I think Sony did a good job locking this console down to prevent piracy but ultimately, everything is hackable. With all 3 of the major consoles currently hacked to play pirated games, we'll see the console sells plummet and the hardest to get hit will be the most popular consoles.

video doesnt confirm anything really. For all we know the console reset could have had another ps3 switched in, or the game switched out of frame. They could have better proved it by zooming out to show the console the whole time.

If xiaNaix is backing it then i'm sure it's real. I know who he is from being in the Wii scene years back. Well, guess I'll need to save some money for this and snag a few 2TB drives.

I wonder if Sony can easily block this thing or if it actually uses an exploit found in a driver. If that's the case, Sony might have to disable some third-party or even first-party USB equipment until they can fully patch it.

personally i couldn't care less about online play, so my ps3 hasn't been updated in a long time. At least an update or 2 BEFORE the one that did away with Other OS. And if they have been able to run games off a hard drive than i imagine it isn't a huge leap to disable FW checks in games.

Suprised no one said that its not a ISO loader at all.... IT BACKUPS THE DISC.... ISO loader is on horizon i figure but its called backup manager for a reason no ISO yet

Well, it may not have an extension of .ISO but it does the same and basic thing once you rip the disc.

no u cant copy and paste off the device from what i understand sooooo no backing up to external then pasting it online with a torrent or anything like that ....this will soon be patched i would think but the PS3 has a special proprietery file system similar to fat32 but without the 4gb limitation on single file space

now u can copy and paste off drive with the FTP server homebrew that came out

Woot. I'm finally back stateside again and got to this as soon as I came home. Loaded up PSFreedom on my old iPhone 3G. Works like a charm. I've booted up a game I backed up myself onto the internal drive. Downloaded a few games and will be giving that a go here soon.

Also installed the SNES emu and played a little mario kart on my ps3.
