Looking at buying a PS3 to mod but find it hard to get answers tbh. I've read that I need to find one with 3.55 but that is proving impossible for me. I was under the impression that the security had been blown wide open in October, with the leak of LV0 keys? So does this mean that soon I'll be able to mod a PS3 with higher firmware? Or are there other plans afoot for higher firmwares? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Second you need 3.55 or below OR you need a hardware flasher. There is no other way around this right now.

I have a 4.25 PS3, wonder how long I'll have to wait Not really willing to spend so much cash on a flasher.

you cant downgrade from 3.56 or higher without a hardware flasher. They changed the way updates work after 3.55. Some people are looking into putting cfw on 4.30 or whatever but idk if any real progress has been made.

IMO just buy a flasher and downgrade to 3.55 then upgrade to whatever cfw you want............if you do that remember to dehash
