red ring of death fix/mod help

i had just gone through my 3rd xbox and im starting to get really annoyed with them all dieing from RRoD so i have a few questions.

1. are their any methods of fixing it better this one http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/263/62/
I tried this before for a friend and it ended up dieing again.(but that also could of been because when I open it it looked like gamestop had already refurbished by doing the same thing and it had the old GPU heatsink in it.)

2. i was also thinking of doing some case mods to try to get better air flow, does any one have any suggestions.

I already came up with a few ideas like moving the dvd drive to on top of the system and replacing the GPU heatsink with a bigger one like possibly another CPU heatsink(from my other broken 360) then maybe adding a fan behind it and moding the airscoop.

any suggestions are welcome

Personally what I did for my xbox (halo 3 edition, made in november 2007) was buy this kit here from xbox-experts:
http://xbox-experts.com/stores_items_de ... rrency=USD
It has everything you need, and instructions on the site, it's basically the same method everyone uses with screws and washers but adds a plate with foam for counter pressure against the heatsink. Never ever had any problem at all with it.

It's really virtually impossible to get RROD with that thing I swear but I also did this as well:
Get some tin foil and tape it on top of the gpu heatsink perfectly flat. Tape a piece of cardboard in the middle of the fan shroud to create 2 little tunnels that goes to each fan from each heatsink. Then tape up the gaps between the two heatsinks with some tape. Cut out the metal mesh to cut down on restricted airflow and finally solder some wires to a 12v source on the mobo to the fan so it spins at 12V. Here is a link that describes all those cooling mods: http://www.rbjtech.net/xbox/cooling/cooling.htm
http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/360-12V-fan-Mod.htm

Right now I've been playing Assassin's Creed 2 on the very first generation of xbox's (no hdmi) all day and all I did was tape up the fan shroud and put tin foil over the gpu heatsink. If do you everything that I mentioned above then I will pay you $100 if you actually still get RROD after all that.
