To Drive Chip or not to Drive Chip?

I've had my Wii for about a week now, and I've been exploring the homebrew scene and taking a look at everything on offer - however, one thing that I've not been able to get too much info on are the advantages (other than loading backup/pirated games) of a drive chip.
I've got a 3.3E, and I've got Homebrew channel installed, so are there any real advantages as to getting a mod chip? I mean, the only one I can think of would be I'd be able to play back up game discs, meaning that the likely hood of my younger sister trashing discs is greatly diminished.
So, in a nut shell I have two questions.
1. Is there any real point getting a drive chip if I already have the homebrew channel?
2. If I do get a chip, should I go the cheap way and self-install a Wii Key (I have a uncut D2B), or dish out for a Wasabi and install or something?

if you have a d2b there's no reason to get one of the newer more expensive modchips. I would recommend YAOSM as it has the best support, but it's up to you...

And yes, the only advantage to having a drive chip is to play backups.

Re: To Drive Chip or not to Drive Chip?

If you already have a homebrew channel on your Wii and want to install a drive chip, be aware: Installing a drive chip may limit the usability of your homebrew channel. This can cause unexpected problems, like loss of homebrew functionality contexto unlimited or crashes.
