dam confused

so if the ps2 can play ps1 games then why cant the ps3 play ps2 game

My ps3 can play ps2 games cause i got it the day of release but if u have a recent one they cant because sony took out the ps2 compadability to make them cheeper.

how do i fix this anyone

The 40GB version can't play PS2 games. You'll have to buy a different one but I think it is the only one out now. Although the new bundle is coming out on June 16? I think, which will be the MGS4 bundle with a dualshock controller.
