PC's + External Hardrives and PS3
Last night I took a break playing the guitar and I decided to see what I could do (network and data storage wise) with the PS3. I set up my wireless router with DHCP (of course). I connected my laptop, PS3 and PSP to the network. I pinged each Sony device from the PC to make sure they could see each other, which they could. Now, I know Windows is DOS, and PSP's and PS3's run off of a version of Linux, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I've tried to telnet into the hard drive in multiple ways (even using Putty and using RAW and SSH) to no avail. I even tried getting in over port 80 (http) still, nada. Tried to do the same thing from the PSP and PS3 to the PC using the Internet Browser, again didn't work. I didn't expect much, especially when one speaks Greek and the other speaks Russian :: shrugs::
My question is if anyone has found a program they could use to accomplish what I've tried to accomplish?
Another question I have is I hooked up my 4GB Thumb Drive to the PS3, and obviously it saw it. Then for the hell of it I hooked up my Seagate Pro 500GB hard drive up to it, and it didn't see it. I did the same for another external hard drive (180 GB) with the same result as the Seagate. Anything Im doing wrong, or is it just not going to work except for small Thumb Drives?
