Is ODST made by Bungie still? I know them and Microsoft broke up.

Actually Halo is technically owned by Microsoft. Microsoft has the rights to the game.

Yea you would think so, but I mean I'm sure there will be patches like any other game. As for blizzard I'm very surprised at their speed they have been releasing patches at for WoW lately, with not really that many bugs. The only thing that has bothered me was increased lag, and a day or two of downtime without reimbursement. Their customer support for WoW has really gone down the drain in like the past year, but the dev team is on point imo.

I think they have publishing rights, but the game is made by Bungie.

Yes but Microsoft could change that at any time.

"On Friday, Microsoft and "Halo" creator Bungie Studios announced plans to amicably part ways. The split was effective Monday. Microsoft retains all rights to "Halo," a franchise of first-person shooter video games credited for the success of its Xbox video game business and expected to break $1 billion in total sales by year's end. It will also maintain an undisclosed minority equity interest in Bungie."

Yea so I'm not sure exactly what that means, Bungie still develops the game and Microsoft publishes it.
I think the "split" is just that Bungie doesn't work inside the Microsoft Studios or something.

It's like a book. The writer writes the book, and gets a publisher to publish it, because they don't have the resources to do it themselves. Same way a movie is, you have the director and producer. But the split between bungie and M$ also means that bungie has a lot more freedom on making the game the way they want to make it. Notice the gameplay difference between halo 3 and ODST? Yea.

Halo isnt even Bungies game anymore tho..They dont have the rights to it.

That means Microsoft could get Treyarch (heaven forbid) to make the game if they wanted to.

Oh well you said you didnt understand it lol, but yea that still sucks M$ has the rights to the game. But that would be insanely stupid for them to get a different company to design the next halo. That would be pretty much failure right there.

DarkPacMan77 wrote:Somebody explain what the gameplay is like to me. I'm at work currently but I'd like some info in case a customer comes in asking about it.

-edit- I watched a gameplay video on YouTube and it seems kind of "call of duty"-ish... as in, you get points for the kills and stuff popping up on the screen. I like that it has some new guns - the pistol looks sexy, almost like Halo 1 in functionality.

-DarkPacMan77-

It only pops up on firefight.
The campiagn, the stuff doesnt pop up like medals etc, thats only firefight.

You have a VSIR mode, which acts like kinda flashlight / tracker if that helps haha!
