PS2 gamesave file type?

I'm trying to get a gamesave for Marvel vs Capcom 2 so I can keep my thumbs intact, but I'll be darned if there are about 5 different file types out there for gamesaves. They seem to be based on the different cheat producers (Gameshark, Codemasters, XPort, etc). I've used .max files in the past when first modding my PS2, so that might be it. I'm trying to find what the official file type though.

The official save type? It was something weird, i think it is vmc.
What are you using to play the game? The PS3 or PC?

Neither of those, I'm using the PS2.

how are u going to copy them to ur memory card???

Homebrew program (whose name escapes me ATM) that lets you open various areas of the PS2. One of which is the Memory Card.

so if u could copy a save game from ur pc to ur ps2 then u could do it the other way around..

In easy words :

1. Copy a saved game to ur pc
2. Check the extension
