Halo 3 Ranking System.
The only word that comes to mind is "Flawed". If you haven't played this game online (and believe me, unless your playing social it's not worth it) let me lay it down for you.
Your rank in a Ranked play list goes up as the more games you win.
For every game you win you get 1 EXP point.
For every game you lose, your rank goes down.
The more EXP you have in general the harder it is to rank up.
-Scenario-
Jeff plays Halo 3, He's in Team Doubles with his buddy Rob.
They both haven't played Team Doubles before, so they're not really sure what to expect, (Team Doubles is a 2V2 play list, usually slayer and objective games, and hence refereed to as TD) They get into the game and they win the first round! Wowzers! What luck!
Jeff's rank goes to a 3
while Rob's rank goes to a 2, Since he's played other play lists.
They continue playing until Jeff is 28 and Rob is 16 (rank's that is)
Simply because your EXP all goes to one spot.
So the more games, you play the harder it is to rank up in EVERY RANK PLAYLIST!
WTF!
When losing at a game I understand their should be consequences, but should their be one for winning?
Especially if that Consequence makes it harder to rank up, Also, on a side note if you have more EXP in a play list than your Rank, you basically have to win 4 games in a row to rank up, Essentially, unless you make another account just to rank up to 50 in one fell swoop (Boosting) It's impossible to become rank 50. IE your boned.
I wrote this, being really frustrated at halo's ranking system. I was going to quit until i noticed Social Play lists.
Basically in these, you play for fun. That's it. Sounds like my kind of game.
I'm not playing Halo's ranked system at all being as it is completely flawed, to all hell and back.
Just figured I'd share that.
