Make sure you ask to see their equipment as well. People usually charge around $20 for the repair. Most xbox's are repairable but depending on how hot the motherboard got, it might be so warped that the solder joints wont be able to stay in contact with the gpu. If i were you i would also get them to perform the x-clamp fix as well because when the xbox heats up, the motherboard shifts around...the x-clamps prevent the motherboard from moving.
by the way que, you dont get a new xbox...you get a refurbished xbox. and if you're willing to pay $100 you might as well just get a new arcade system.
