Ipod Touch 32gb... What do I do with it?

Ok, so I used to have a 30gb Zune that I enjoyed but apparently misplaced, and now I've come into the ownership of an Itouch 32gb version. I know nothing about these things but I'm trying to learn. So far I've done purdy much just installed iTunes, installed a couple of junk apps, used AIM for a second or two, and that's it. Anyone care to give me a product tour? Jailbreak info? What it can do?

Just wondering if I should sell this off or keep it for my own use. Also, it has skype for texting, but I know this thing should be able to do simple VOIP if you had a mic, right? Learninate me.

Ask BKF, he was big into the itouch scene and he opened his up to emulators I think.

Yeah I'm looking into trying to put some emulators on here and getting it be a "cell phone" using VOIP. I just don't know where to start. By the way, it's a 3rd generation itouch 32gb.

See, thats what Sucks DPM. You gave up jailbreaking (temporarily) for a faster processor. Right now there isnt a jailbreaking (that I know of) that will allow the certain rooting of 3rd generation touches.

This would allow you to install the emulators.

App Store- Hmm honestly it doesnt offer no where near the same type of customization of the device. Just go through the free section and search around and look at the stars. May not always be accurate, but it gives you a great start.

I havent set mine up to VOIP (its a little 1st gen ) but you will need a headphone with a microphone at the very least.

Yeah I've found SIP-VOIP microphones that apparently run a little high... $40-60 that can be used to function with SIP VOIP apps but those aren't necessarily the most user-friendly programs and stuff. Either way, it can work, so that's neat, but yeah, I bought this on the street so I'm just seeing what it can do.

Check. You dont have to go through his system and all..just take a look at it and look on the back. Where it says the copyright and all if its 2 lines its a 3rd Gen. If 3-4 its a 2nd Gen. If it has no volume keys its a 1st gen.

sell it, burn it, run it over, hack it and sell it for more. its a worthless POS mac thing. delicate and stupid iff you ask me, zune was better. you dont need a program to put usic on it that takes forever to load. much faster and haz touch ones. better sturdier.

Says 32gb, under that are two lines of text containing the model and the serial and under that are little icons for the different stuff it supports under that. Volume on the side. Seems 3rd gen to me. Guy had the 64 he said he jailbroke with "black rain" or something - I haven't gone and looked about that yet.

well, im no expert, but an easy hacker for suck is blackra1n google that one, and its pretty straight forward. easiest hacking tool and it does it in under a minute.

I've owned 2 zunes and the software constantly names my stuff wrong, puts it in the wrong folders, erases my first tracks and puts them in a folder of their own... all sorts of stuff. So I don't care if it's faster or w/e for music because it does everything all messed up - and this is coming from someone that actually likes the zune... so... yeah, but this little ipod is going to do a lot more than a Zune ever could when I'm done with it. It's kinda like a DS to a PSP.
