Well, one thread was really pointless and borderline belligerent, so BKF locked it. Then there was a 2012 post brought up which was locked and forwarded to the already-existing 2012 thread. There's a thread about how everyone hates me and my staff which was shut down after 2 or 3 days and then there was a member breaking a rule advertising about another forum.

It's just a hard rule to get used too, I guess.

And it happend so many times in sequence that many people thought that the staff was just doing just to be annoying.

Oh. Sounds like a lot of activity seems to be going on around. Not any good activity.
I've read a few posts here and there. . .everything is quite tipsy-turvy.

I think it's time we came to reason and peace you guys. ( :

If I may say, I think a lot of the activity seems to be from members feeling "left out" in the sense that they've been a member for a long time but haven't received much in the way of staff roles or community leadership. All other topics of interest I've come across with members being upset lately derives from locked posts or people spamming and being mad that their posts were deleted, but that stuff is covered quite clearly in our rules so I don't even pay attention to that stuff to be honest. There's also people that don't like ace and BKF, but to be honest, they are two of the finest moderators we've ever had and I personally feel that the staff leadership here is very fair compared to almost all other tech-related websites.

I think it's time that people not be selfish and pull together for the community of the website. I went ahead and launched the news contribution section where anybody can post awesome links for news posts. I think that's a fine start to get us pumping news as fast as other tech sites. A lot of things are broken across the network right now, but we're slowly bringing bits and pieces back to try and isolate our security flaws. As the staff is working hard to make the site better, I feel it's only right for the community to pull together as well. There's lots of naysayers that like to complain about things not being done or want to be staff members themselves so the idea is that those people should take that energy and turn it into a positive community-driven role that we've established: news posting.

We are also now taking news for PCBrew topics as well as ANY crazy/ cooky tech-related stuff that we can get our hands on. That stuff will be filed under "Brewology" for the news category though, and will ONLY be represented on Brewology.com, so I recommend that people use that portal to enter the site.

Or in some cases, people just want to be heard, and to make sure the moderators are doing their job.

I've said nothing of offense to the staff.

Their doing fine.
But it's not as if others wouldn't do fine as well, but I do see where DPM is coming from and we don't need anymore staff, and people think it's unfair.

TBH, we casually have discussions about who we may promote in the future, but that's exactly that, "the future". At the moment, the ONLY staff position being completely flooded with work needing to be done is unfortunately the Administrator role. In fact, BKF is splitting up duties with me right now and is an "administrator" for a little bit to do some work in the Administrator Control Panel to ban a botnet we've uncovered. Lately, we've been spammed by a few botnets and since it's a little risky to ban the whole IP range (because I wouldn't want to give .Yunoko a heart attack) I've had to go through over 1,200 different IP addresses to ban "guest" accounts that spam us. This is tough stuff and puts off other work we can be doing but that's why we just adjust and work with the staff that we have and split the work.

I don't mean to diss on any single member regarding the denial of their admission to a staff position, but it's hard to justify bringing in more staff at this time when my own moderators feel that there isn't a need for it. I will, however, throw it out there that since we've added the News Contribution section, it's a good idea to post news articles for us there in order to get some extra kudos from the staff. Before, news posting was an option available to only some of the most privileged members on the Brewology Network, but now we've opened up the ability to have your voice heard readily and proudly displayed on the front page. This new change is something I encourage everyone who is interested to take part in. Being able to post the actual news itself is tedious and requires more than just typing. We have a News Tool that, for lack of better words, is sometimes "frustrating" to deal with. Those who've used it can vouch for me there!!! lol!!!

I also strongly encourage ANYBODY to write me a private message personally if they have any issues with anything in the forum, especially if it is for an appeal to something decided by myself or the other staff. This forum is ENTIRELY run by the community. I just consider myself a lucky custodian with the ability to manage a great site with truly helpful members.

Il vouch for that DPM. Brewology literally wouldnt be the same ol' crappy news tool.

For anyone who thinks "BKF has always been a mod it seems..." nope. I was a news poster. In fact, I remember the night I sent in my submission to DPM to try out for being on the News. I was at my grandmas actually. Then one thing let to another and I got promoted. The same can happen to you. I was actually 14 at the time.

Once again.

I highly doubt anyone cares about BEING a mod, but more so the fact that their mods are doing THEIR job to the best of it's ability. Because it's not as if people want to be mods, it's just they want to make sure it's fair that the current mods Deserve their spot.

At least that's my opinion.
If I see one slipping, I'm sure I'll be the first one to let you know.

I stand by my moderators as being fully capable of fulfilling their duties though. I mean, there's been frustrated members on every forum that ever existed but the moderator team here does follow the rules and is laid back, yet supportive and knowledgeable. There's tons of people with oversized signatures and we don't enforce them, but then there's always people saying that we're either too strict or too relaxed. We just try to create the best atmosphere that we can. The hardest part about that is that it's unfair in the respect that we, the staff, can't change how the community feels about us most of the time no matter what we do because everyone is split on how they feel about each individual action taken.
