wtf man, it erased what i said!!!

you know what, i give up. im lazy. ill sum it up.

its a kiddies system so far it seems. look at the majority of games. sure brawl was ok, and zelda kept me a while. even wii sports was fun to play for a while, but this isnt directed the way the ps3 and xbox are. xbox is decently balanced, and ps3 is the online/HD gamers lover.

nintendo hasnt shown up for a console war since.... ever. 64 was an inspiration. best thing in a long time. then the ps1 hit, then the gamecube held up short. ps2......nothing. xbox.....nothing. ps3, 360... wii. fell a little short.

they really need to expand. ati gfx card they boast, and they cant seem to make a game past GC graphics still.

online seems to fail too. they just need to make a beastage system to eat the 360 and ps3 alive. im waiting.... and i really would like to see it.

It will never happen. Nintendo is too family oriented to continuously make games that appeal to older gamers.

Also Nintendo has a trend of using outdated tech to build it's consoles. Yes it saves them money but it also keeps them from being cutting edge. People grew up with the N64 but let's face it all the other systems at the time had migrated to CDs so Nintendo, at least since the mid 90s, has been behind the power curve for a while.

For those of you with selective reading that can't get past the point that "gamers" not using the Wii or you yourself becoming bored with the Wii, here's some numbers.

Sony's profit margins from March 09, 08, 07 respectively:
-1.3% 4.2% 1.5%

Microsoft's profit margins from June 09, 08, 07 respectively:
24.9% 29.3% 27.5%

Nintendo's profit margins from March 09, 08, 07 respectively:
15.2% 15.4% 18%

Now, seeing as how Nintendo's products are pretty much ONLY games and game system, look at the margins they've been able to keep. In 09, Nintendo had only $18.9 Billion in revenue to compare to Microsoft's $58.4 and Sony's $79.4

Now tell me what Nintendo's doing wrong. Tell me why Nintendo needs to change. Believe me, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. I haven't played my Wii for well over a year. I shipped it back home when I moved from Japan to Australia cause it was dead weight to travel with. But there's no doubt that Nintendo has a winning product that has helped lead to winning profits.

But Nintendo doesn't NEEEEEEEEED that kind of stuff. Their newer ATi graphics card is roughly twice as powerful as the Gamecube, if I remember correctly. The power of their graphics card is absolutely fine - I stress that. However, their means of upconverting or natively supporting 720p or 1080p resolutions is what holds it back. If you've ever played a PC game and put it on 640x480 resolution you'd notice a much worse picture clarity than say 1920x1080 based on sheer resolution alone which doesn't help the Wii's cause in terms of appearing to be a high-powered graphics machine.

The ATi setup that they use does include various filtering settings right off the bat for Anti Aliasing (AA) and such that even the PS3 doesn't natively support (unless coded by developers to incorporate). That does help Nintendo out in terms of making things look better on lower resolutions - something that many people tend to overlook. Have you ever seen/ played Tiger Woods 08 or 09 on the PS3?. The golf club looks like it was programmed on the Atari with all of the jagged lines and some scenery looks terrible too. In fact, when compared to Tiger Woods 06 on my Gamecube, I prefer the GC setup as opposed to PS3 for the scenery (textures on players are done well though).

I think this is absolutly STUPID I have Wii and only play it a bit. cus its not different form oney other game on this system pion click point click wave turn bend. all the time. this Magic Wand/Dildo PS3 remote looks gay. IMHO i think sony is grabbing on to things since a lot of its exclusives (not all) are waving farewell. They need something to grasp ad hold on to.

And PS3 isnt the gamers Lover for HD and Online. Xbox has the biggest online community with around 25-30 million users. World Wide. PS3 yes has blu ray. But for home entertainment. you have Netflix, Media center, DVD's, Games, Live games, Arcade games, Indie Games, Facebook, Twitter, Radio Stations, Video Chat and Voice chat. they both have perks. But 360 better onloine IMHO

I'm still wishing for the day that a console is developed to please gamers instead of simply to make a profit. But that will never happen, only reason to make a good is for profit :( I can always dream.

Lolz... it's called a computer. There will never be a "gamers" console because for the most part "gamers" are willing to pay for the latest and greatest technology, and with hardware constantly changing and improving you need to have a modular system. You will NEVER get that in a console.

While Microsoft has clearly dominated the market when it comes to the availability of great games, I don't think it's appropriate to count the PS3 out of the fight. With more and more people owning HD TV's people are going to expect more out of their games and system. The Xbox doesn't have the capability to keep up using DVD technology. I think the PS3 will have a chance to push ahead being bluray capable and being able to store all that information on one disc, plus the processing power. The Xbox's only savior will be downloadable content, but that I can only see as a temporary solution as you can't put downloadable content in your bag and take it to your friend's house to play it. And God forbid a company actually loosen up with the DRM requirements to make the transfer of DLC available!

I'm interested to see how this 3D revolution is going to pan out. If it booms, Sony's got themselves in a good position to dominate the market.

Nintendo isn't going anywhere. They will continue to deliver good old fashion family entertainment. As long as people keep sh*ting out kids, Nintendo will have a place in the market. They won't be going anywhere any sooner than Disney will be.

Yea I know it'll never happen in a console, but like I said I can always dream! I only said that because of the profit talk about Nintendo. It's like everything in life though, imagine if sony & m$ got together and made a console. On the other hand I'm not sure if that would be good or not, it might turn out like a imbred or a system with downs syndrome after all the argument between the two designers.

There's a fine line that has to be drawn between performance and practicality. Look at the PS3. It has TONS of potential. But Sony had to stick in technology that is a HUGE b*tch to code for, hence the lack of games on the PS3. Any time you introduce a new technology you take a gamble.

Nintendo doesn't risk anything which is why they make so much money. Everyone held the Wiimote like is was the best thing since sliced bread, but all it is is an accelerometer and tiny camera in it. If someone wanted to they could code an iPhone to function the exact same way. It's got an accelerometer and a camera to pick up the IR LEDs in the sensor bar. It's simple, but it works, and Nintendo can keep pumping out Spongebob games to sell to parents wanting to shut up their bratty little kids.

Awesome read lol, my input:

I probably won't buy any of the motion stuff for PS3, I'm only really interested in how natal develops. I had a Wii and the "wiggling" got old(no pun intended). I'd rather just play with a regular controller. Unless Sony just busts out with some great games that can define themselves away from the standard "wiggle" games then I might be interested.

Darn, Nintendo is only making 69.5 billion yen compared with 144.83 billion yen from the same 6 month stretch last year. It almost makes you want to donate to such a charitable cause lol

Modular? Oh yes, back when quality consoles were made they were "modular" ;) Of course this means that the Genesis is the best gaming console of all time... duh.

The Wii did a horrible job of using it's technology. The PS3 had to step in to fix all of the poblems.
