"Fanboy" Topics/ Posts
I just wanted to let everyone know that we, the staff here at the Brewology, openly accept and encourage topics posted which represent any individual's feelings regarding how they feel about their game system of choice/ preference. In spite of recent trends, the forum has tended to look down on people that openly feel that "Xbox 360 is better than PS3" or that "Wii is the best". This is a way of thinking in which I highly discourage members from taking part in.
Being a "fanboy" is what this place is all about. I'm a Sega Master System/ Genesis "fanboy" in the sense that I think those game systems are so flippin' amazing that nothing else can compare, but I can't just say "SMS or Genesis are better than PS3" without clearly indicating why I feel that way. If I did so, I would appear to be ignorant, misinformed, or otherwise upset or anger other members of the forum who think otherwise.
The reason I'm bringing all of this up is because recently people have tended to argue with one another about comments made in a "fanboy" nature, something some members here are all-too-familiar with doing. Again, I encourage posts made regarding why you think one system/ game is better than another. It's that premise which underscores the very existence of this forum - to have fun and play video games. I want to point out, however, that any "Fanboy topics/ posts" should be posted with OTHERS in mind as well as the original poster's feelings. There's no reason at all that anyone should be mad that someone likes the PS3 more than the 360 or anything like that - and for the most part, I feel that our members here are mature enough to realize that this isn't something worth arguing over. The problem is that people are posting in a way that is offensive to others regarding their opinions of games, game systems, and cross-platform differences and aren't taking into consideration how much they may be downright pissing someone else off. This is something that needs to change. All of us need to support one another and their opinions and each person giving their opinion needs to take into consideration how others may interpret that opinion so that we don't find ourselves bickering over the dumb childish banter revolving around video game flame wars and the such. I know each and every one of our members is better than that, so let's not try and argue about these things but rather share an honest and open opinion with one another while taking their thoughts into consideration too. Not everyone will agree with everyone else, and if they don't, that doesn't make anyone else wrong. Instead, it may mean that your thoughts should be backed up with statistics, tests, benchmarks or screenshots to help sway your audience, but never will any member be wrong for how they feel about any certain gaming system, game, company etc.
There's no reason to be mad about someone liking a certain thing. I like kittens and crait likes chickens. He can tell me chickens are the best pets in the world and I'm likely to not ever have one as a pet but that doesn't mean he should ever say that kittens are stupid. Dig the analogy? Let's get along and not argue. It's pointless.
That's all I wanted to say ladies and gentlemen. Proceed with your regularly scheduled posting
