ok i'm kinda new here and i do see some friction between fanboys lol but without creating a flame war i would like someone to explain how the 360 keeps up graphically with the ps3 when its not a HD dvd or bluray..

i mean the next gen games are amazing quality but to be released on both systems without even a slight pine cone of difference i just dont get it..

ok now i know that 360 has been out for quite some time compared to the ps3 and obviously the ps3 has jumped onto bluray in a flash but now you've got a release of FFXIII on 3 discs for the 360 and "slightly" reduced gfx quality...

does this mean:
that the 360 will now start to struggle with future games?

or developers will keep games as high as they can get for cross console releases but without exceeding the 360's limited hardware (meaning the DVD drive)??

or Microhard will make 360 users purchase a HD dvd player (or even jump on the bluray bandwagon)

i mean if Microsoft do jump on the bandwagon for bluray does this mean us Sony fanboys can b**ch and moan about microsoft just copying Sony (kinda like the Wii Vs psMove topic lol)

i know there is numerous points in this post but i kinda want some answers STAT!!!

You have to understand that the 360 has been out for 5 years now. Keeping up with the PS3 still is a surprise in itself.

By the time it becomes an issue the Xbox 720 will be out by then.

Also, it doesnt matter what disk people developers use, what matters is whats on the disk really. See, there can be a higher quality picture on the DVD then on a Blu-ray. Thats not to say the DVD wont fill up faster than a Blu-Ray disk though.

The 360 is also easier to code for because it is technically more like a computer and doesnt have the cell processor that very few game companies truly know how to code for.

The only issue I see arriving in a year or two is what you stated, multiple disks for a single game. Thats the only win I really see on the Ps3 front. By then though, we'll be downloading games bud and not buying them at the store ;)

PS3 is a very strong System its exclusives always look better than a 360 game. But the 360 is also a very strong system. A lot of multi-platform games look better on the 360 than the PS3 due ti BKF's comment on that the 360 is what the game is dev for then trandfered to PS3 (excluding FF witch i think was dev on PS3 then ported to 360) and some multi-platform games look better on the PS3.

Now I think with the release of the next Xbox console it will have HD DVD or Blu-Ray. And no its not a cpying PS3 thing since everyone uses DVD now, I think blu-ray will be used quite more in the future.

360 keeps up with PS3 cuz its not a bad system and IMHO Live is WAY better than PSN.

Thing is with PSN Vs Live is that i notice no difference, its your connection that counts...
i use both frequently and the only downfall with psn is that you cant create a party outwith a game and chat to mates playing different games.... Live nailed that one on the head...!

Exactly Timeloop. Its hard to justify the Live subscription when PS3 offers something similar for free (for now at least).

The next Xbox will NOT use HD-DVD though. That is a dead platform now. Toshiba, the company that created HDDVD pulled the plug and will make a Blu-Ray player soon (if it hasnt already)

Well then X360 may be gettin Blu-Ray with its next console. I hope. Would be great IMO.

it would be great. maybe if they get a bluray player (doesnt sony own the rights to bluray?) then aybe live will be free. like a trade off.

id like the xbox to be a great console, but it makes me mad to see so many fanboys for what it is. id understand if it NEVER rrod'd and had free live.... built in HDDVD player (when it was made) that would be understandable, and i couldnt complain (as much)

go gettem macrohard, do your stuff!

Let's take a look at our perspectives....
Let's say the graphics on the SNES are rated a 200 and the Sega is a 200. They have the same graphics. Now, the PS1 had a rating of 1600 while the N64 had a rating of 1550. Not much difference but there is some. Not enough to tell.
The PS3 could have a power of 4600 if you use this analogy while the 360 has a rating of 4400. Yes, there is a 200 point difference, equivalent to a smaller game system, but when you look at the percentage of how much better it is, the difference is minute.

its more to do with the size of the disks tho, does this mean cross platform games dont even scratch its way onto a bluray?

can you explain what ratings system your using, please.. i dont understand the ratio

i thought it was always done in Bits
megadrive 16bit
ps1 32bit
N64 64bit
ps2/xbox 128bit

hehehe you said. . . .
