Yep, I did. Got it for $30.00. However, I'm trading it for one of the original model PS3's with a 40gb hard drive which "doesn't play PS3 games". I'm sure I just need to clean it up and it'll work but until then, wish me luck on my PS3

The PS3 likely needs a replacement blueray drive. Check Amazon.

By the way fellas, I've successfully found out that it's the drive now that is bad and needs replacement - not just cleaning. I'm keeping the PS3 because I've learned it's actually even a 60gb and not a 40gb like I originally thought. I'm reading that there's only like 3 different lasers possible for the model I have (or generally being sold second-hand) and I'm looking to get the cheapest one I can that will work. I'm looking for either just the laser units itself (guaranteed to install correctly in 60gb model) or an entire replacement blu ray drive.

Please, if any of you are kind souls, lead me in the right direction.

Speaking of hdds, can you change the hdd in an xbox to whatever you want? Cuz I know its a laptop one, but will it work?

looks like you'll need a KES-400AAA laser set up. and its pretty easy to tell if its 60 GB, just look for the memory card slots!

Thanks for the support and the links peeps, but I know how to do the repair already. It's pretty straightforward. I'm just waiting on the replacement part. I've already ordered one similar to the first link crait sent after researching on exactly what I needed. I also got a 32" 480i TV for $100 - no, I know it's not the greatest, but it has tons of input options and in my case PS3/ Xbox 360 etc. aren't going to be played "for graphics", that's what my 4890 1gb graphics card, 8gb DDR2 800mhz RAM, and 3.6ghz quad core processor are for.

Also, for those of you wanting to play games with me, I don't anticipate that I'll actually be playing many games online as of yet. I play shooters on the PC and all. I pretty much just want a PS3 for sh*tz and giggles because "it's the best" (60gb backwards compat.) and to play racing games.
