my baby just "YLOD"

ok normally i laugh and giggle when i hear about the 360 getting the "RROD" and love to mock the 360 users but yesterday while playing Fight Night Round 4 my humble steed died a quick (and i HOPE a very) painfull death. its over 2 years old and as you can see by my ps3 sig it doesn't just collect dust it gets played (litraly) to the death... time to buy me a slimline me thinks while this badboy is in the shops trying to be repaired..

one thing i will give credit to is microfail as they replace it no bother and no fuss.. whereas looking around for ps3 YLOD support its like £130 for Sony to get off their fat donkey and come get it replace or repair it and slap a new 3 month warranty on it...

i heard of many other resolves for the ps3 YLOD but to be honest its cheaper me whacking it in the shop and letting them fcuk around with it to try fix it.. hopefully i can get my data back with my game saves for like fallout 3, Final Fantay 13 and dragon age origins....

Man that stinks! Luckily, yellow light isn't too terribly common but it's usually a problem with the power supply, from what I hear. If you have a friend's you can test with, I'd take out his power supply from inside the PS3 and swap it in yours to see if it boots right (if compatible). It might be a quick repair yourself saving you money and aggravation.

The YLOD can be a number of things. and it really only happened in the backwards 60gb when it got ever heated. sometimes it HDD failure. i think it happened to one in 500k i think. not many cases. and most of those "look how many did" are idiots who have dropped it or did it themselves and not at all sony's fault.

if you notice, the systems that have hardware failures sell better. why?
xbox fail EPIC -- bought most
PS3 fail, faint -- rising in sales by alot
Wii fail NEVER -- sucks beyond belief

huh....... strange....

$150 bucks to replace. Not even bad. Still cheaper then new. Plus then you don't have to get one of those ugly 120 GB model ones.

true, but why does the xbox fail WWAAYYY more than the ps3? ps3 is much more higher in performance (although it has few stunning titles to show it....)

Dammit dude no one cares.

Xbox wrecks.
Ps3 wrecks.

Their both good, who gives a damn..
My Xbox puts COD on the damn screen JUST like a Ps3.

It hasn't f**k up yet.

Literally 0 f**k difference.

Usually, YLOD is because of harddrive failures. Try replacing it.
