Official Site Upgrades Request Thread

I've been compiling an ever-so-large list of things we would like to incorporate into the Brewology, but I want to know what you guys want to see in the future. Please list any number of *serious* requests, and I'll try to keep an updated list of the goals that the community sets. Keep in mind that many things such as the site's currently broken features may be irrelevant since they'll be almost all worked out during our changeover update.
Maybe you could choose to list your top 3 things you'd really like to see incorporated, or perhaps you have a long string of requests. I'm wanting to get a good feel of where we are and where we want to be, collectively, as a community.
The list is as follows:
1. More staff involvement in the forum.
2. Disable "Guest" posting ability.
3. Reconsider forum layout.
4. Add user-ended "rep"/ "like" system.
5.
6.
7.

2. More posts/threads/activity from all administration
3. Disable Guest posting in all sections
4. Thanks/FAIL buttons to rate the posts of members.
5. Collapsible sections. I.E. I can 'close' the sections that I don't want to see when I get on the site.
5. Another site I'm really active on, allows everyone to have a section named after them under the 'Life' section. It's like a general section but it's a blog-like section. You can update it daily. However, you have to have a certain post count and tell the administration that you actually want one. Oh, and you need to keep it active.

Sorry crait... I don't like your last idea. Sounds like it'll just promote spam. I do like the "Thanks" button idea. Fail button isn't necessary and I can see it being abused, but the "thanks" button seems to be a common feature on a lot of forums.
I think we should also have a members only section that requires you to join to view. That way some downloads and material will require you to sign up to the site to view/access.

Well first, it wouldn't be for everything, just certain material. And second, if someone can't take the time to register, why should we waste our bandwidth on them to just leech?

well maybe if they find what they like, they will do what I did. download stuff and then join within a week.

I think the main way to get people to join the site and to stay members is to refer people and tell people about the site. I do it every chance that I get.
The FAIL button would be used a lot. Another forum that I'm on has a THX button for every thread and people want a button to show that they don't like an idea or the post was stupid. Similar to Facebook's problem. They don't have a Dislike button.
The blog-type thing would not cause spam in the sections because it will still be regulated. The only thing I can see you referring to would be the post count to enable your section. My second suggestion was for more involvement by all staff. That'll prevent most spam.
Besides, if I'm a developer, I want to include you guys in my development of whatever projects I'm working on.

It'll also be a place for threads about post count acheivements. I don't like seeing "W00t! 10,000th post" threads in the general section but I wouldn't like to get rid of them.

We plan to incorporate a "Rep" system, similar to "like/ dislike", but I'll add it to the list.

To be honest I don't think we need the "Insert system here" Hacks" Forums (IE Xbox 360 Hacks)
No one posts in those, we could have general forums for each system..
I just think it's a waste to have so many forums and not have them used.. it's just tacky In my opinion.
I know many people won't agree with me, and that's OK!
I just don't like seeing so many un-used forums, just like how I don't like the saved games still there, or the Packgens.. no one uses them.

It's been being suggested for like 2 years.

We've been wanting a PCBrew since MacBrew.
I'd also like to add....
6. Glossary (Filled with anything we can think of that people would ask. For instance, "What's CFW??". Including abbreviations of user names. I.E. DPM = DarkPacMan77)
