Let me address a few issues regarding posts that have been made since my last one.
1. Staff Resumes: I've mentioned in the past that any members constantly bothering or bickering about being staff members are highly unlikely to ever achieve said status. I've also, at various times, called on the support of the forum openly asking for people to post or private message me in which way(s) they can help around the site and HAVE made staff appointments based on that feedback. I think it's foolish for people to be bashing me when I make an open call to put in a resume for a staff position here. I am the administrator. I'm asking for resumes. End of story. Every individual member is entitled to their own opinion, but the names from this thread bashing that idea merely because of the "if you ask, you won't receive notion" are the same people that will not receive a staff position now anyways. I mentioned that I don't think that there will be a need for other staff at this time, but I didn't mention that Ace was bumped to administrator and that it's highly likely that we're headed towards a staff led by a board of administrators with a separate hierarchy for moderator staff as well as "Feature" news articles (among other things). It's something I can't foresee, but it's not unlikely that we'll need extra staff. We may, and so I ask for private messages from those who think they can help. I've received none so far, so for those of you bickering about becoming staff members while making no effort to become one and ridiculing others who would like to be, you folks won't "just be given staff positions" for being here a long time or posting helpful posts, and I promise you that.
2. Most Likely New Staff: The first staff positions that will readily be open and available, that I plan on creating, will be for feature news articles. Things like company trends, sales numbers, feature reviews on the latest hit game, press releases from game companies/ developers etc. I want to legitimize the influx of information to our front page and have a fun time doing it, so there will be a group of people dedicated towards that purpose. The number of people I'm actually going to dip outside of the current staff to recruit, however, is what is up in the air - something I don't have the answer to yet.
3. crait being staff: crait has in the past been a staff member and continues to be a member held with a higher degree over others for knowledgeable posts, coherent helping with other members, remaining a member for a long time, and for his coding releases. Those things alone do not make someone a staff member or worthy of being one. There is no such thing as being "worthy of being staff" and there certainly isn't any point in time in which any member is regarded as staff-worthy simply for their time dedicated towards being a helpful member. It's a plus, not a guarantee.
4. @crait regarding helping: Shut up, please? Nik knows how to do the porting of the features. He's the one that created them in the first place, it's just that he's leaning towards creating a general RSS feed type download service that will download all of the stuff to our server, then host it ourselves and continually update. I am against that idea as it increases cost and creates the potential to have at least one full time staff member dedicated towards keeping the downloads updated with the recent/ best things. I think that will eventually become a broken system. It's more or less a debate than a technical stalemate. When we decide on a finalized template for the setup, you will most likely be given access to see what is going on and be able to have your input considered, as I've planned on doing and have told you personally outside of the forum, so just hush. We're not at that point yet. The forums and some features are ported fine though, but we also want to consolidate some things or get rid of others.
