Although if you did more then enough of the moderator's job already then my job would be a lot easier, too bad it isn't. I get a lot more pm's about users breaking rules from que then anyone, which is after all what you are supposed to do. But deleting spam is a majority of my job since it seems people always throw temper tantrums when you tell them to follow the rules, and threaten to leave the site.

A moderator should also be one of the most active members on a site and encourage people to join and stay on the site. There are a lot more expected out a moderator than the average member.

In the end the forum is owned by a primate, and it's his choice if he lets anyone help him or not.

We have countless threads for what updates we'd like to see. I'm not saying you guys are ignoring them because some of the suggestions are actually gay, but double checking most of the threads might be a good idea.
Que is an excellent member of this site. If I were administrator, I would have made him a moderator a long time ago. If I was a news poster, I would post all the news he keeps putting up on the site.

Three laws safe.

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

What suggestions do you actually expect me to be able to do? It seems as though dpm is the one running the show so to speak, so I hope you weren't including me in that "you guys". Show me any reasonable suggestions that I can do myself that has a a majorities vote for it, then I will do it.

Ok, what's your point? I can't be held responsible for what bkf says. Last time I checked dpm and monkey are the ones converting the site.

I do agree that it would be nice to have que as a moderator just for the simple fact that he actually has in the past pm'd me about spam issues, i.e. he has followed the rules pretty nicely in my book. But every user should promote member growth and be active, not just moderators.

But if you guys have opinions why don't you just simply give your opinion right here and not bash dpm or bkf? Yea sure, it would've been nice to get phpbb3 wayyyy back when it was first brought up between the staff but if you expect this forum to grow then you really gotta move on and stop dwelling on the past.

You were asking for suggestions and I was just throwing them out there for DPM and Nik. I thought that's why you asked. I don't expect you to magically have the ability to do all of these things.

ace_102 wrote:Ok, what's your point? I can't be held responsible for what bkf says. Last time I checked dpm and monkey are the ones converting the site.

I'm just throwing that out there for whoever is just reading through the thread. I'm kinda highlighting things for people who just briefly pass through threads without really reading them. I'm just throwing it out there to the general public and I don't expect you to have the ability to do anything about it. Sorry if a lot of that post looks like it's directed completely at you.

Then we both are saying the exact thing.

We need to learn from the past. I think a lot of people keep talking about what used to happen because that's the kind of stuff they don't want to see in the update. I think it's just as important as new ideas because they can be just as helpful.

BKFraiders7 wrote:Yea Ace isnt responsible for what I say.

Then, I pity you for your poor judgment and spitefulness.

It's kinda of weird that if anyone of us were to say that, the post would be deleted on the spot, and usually the topic thus hindering us from continuing to provide suggestions for the site to be upgraded, because nine times out of ten the topics that are deleted are ones like this, topics about site upgrades. Not to say that you are responsible for these upgrades nor do you have the ability to provide them, but a mod should try to be more active and do a little more than remove spam.. because let's face it, no news is being posted.

All right guys, listen. I didn't even have to let you guys know that we were running into problems with the site. Like Yumiko said, you are all whining more than girls do.

My staff has my back 100% and would have my back in real life if a situation were to come up. Do not slenderize me or them. Monkeymaximus is a bit slow on meeting up with me. I have worked 60+ hours a week for over a month. Yes, these updates aren't incredibly and ridiculously hard, but the staff is having trouble coming together even when we plan to. I can be ready all day long and never see monkeymaximus and vise versa. We are doing what we can for the site upgrades on our own time - not yours. That much should be apparent.

This site is likely to never reach fame for the same reasons we had in the past. The reason for that is simple. What made us famous and popular before is now dated and old news. We can't reach the same fans for the same reasons on the same site because those people interested in what we covered in the past, when the homebrew scene was much more alive (particularly for the PSP), have gone away to other things.

Our new goal is to invest time and energy into what the staff believes will bring us back more traffic and fame again. In part, the newer, updated website will play a role. What will also play a role is the effective use of features and plugins for the website that will bring us a greater audience. Since the scene is slow right now, and we are a homebrew community, it goes without saying that we will have decreased traffic for the majority of these slower times. This is NOT representative of the staff, it is a representation of the homebrew community as a whole. We were and are a smaller site than most, and thus, our community seems to be more affected than others during slower times. That is a normal trend, and if blame were to be placed, it should be placed more appropriately on the members who post in threads the most, since those negative posts are certainly doing nothing but whining and turning off more members.

And for the last time, resumes can be submitted to me via Private Message. No, I do not understand all of your credentials. No, I am not psychic. I will, under no circumstances, ever appoint any staff member based solely upon their posting habits in the forum or their apparent good will. Every staff member I've ever appointed or that has been voted to be staff has had at least a brief interview with me first and listed what they hope to bring to the table as a staff member. Just because any one member has spent a long time as a member on the forums does not mean that they can circumvent the good practice of getting to know the staff members that help to run the site. Period. Whine about this and receive a 3-day ban courtesy of your ignorance. If you don't like the way in which I run the site, you're welcome to leave, and that's that.

With the current level of bickering going on regarding this, I'm debating whether or not we should call the updates off altogether. I'm tired of everyone being so unappreciative of me, my staff, or the fact that my staff members have lives and that most of us work solid jobs with solid hours. I myself, with 60+ hours the past month, can't stand coming home and listening to all of you guys bicker like hens over things that are currently being worked on. It's like developing a PSP program. You can ask StrmnNrmn to work faster and come out with his newest Nintendo 64 Emulator release as much as you want, and you won't get anywhere except for being frustrated.

but seriously people, shut the hell up. does ANY of this matter? honestly? do you all REALLY care THAT MUCH?

---------------------
yes i know your whole "shut up about staff airplanes" dpm, but it looks like there needs to be a SERIOUS reconform. besides ace, no one else is fit to be on staff. ace follows rules, can you say that for anyone else COMPLETELY? im not saying me, probably never me, but still. come one BK, come on crait. does it matter so much youd rather fight and make this forum hell for us all? if thats the case, start your damn own and fight there, no one here likes it.

I have no offense to any of you with the rules, BK, crait, DCM, Que, nobody. just making a point that ace can do and does it best. no one else can really honestly say they deserve it. i know for damn sure i dont.

Great novel, DPM. Now, go read through all the posts in this thread.

EDIT:
@Airplane:. I agree with you. However, I don't want to fight and I can't control BKF's posts. That's Nik's and a DPM's job.
@DPM: You do a lot and I appreciate that. I don't see anywhere where someone said anything about how we don't appreciate what you do.

I have a legitimate question.

What is it your looking for in a staff member? I'm not implying I would like to be one, in fact I don't think anyone here would care to be one, but it would answer questions such as why the mods we have now deserve to be in their positions of spam removal.

Once again completely legitimate question.

If a reformed staff is to even be CONSIDERED, you must first show me proof that my staff is breaking the rules. I know that it is a forum rule regarding lashing out against other forum members. I, as well as my staff, must be forceful sometimes when members won't abide by the rules. I do not consider these times to be breaking the rules in any fashion, however, if any members come to me with evidence of any of the staff not doing their jobs or breaking the rules, let me know and I will deal with a situation like that and see it through 100% - regardless of the outcome.

And before anyone says "well no news is being posted", that's not their job, and they don't have the ability to. Truthfully, we expected the site updates to be completed midway through last month after monkeymaximus got back from Vietnam, but he didn't have the time to meet up with me until a week later when we began again.

I'm looking for honest members, preferably with goals of their own. Military veterans, boy or girl scouts, or members of successful high school clubs would be a plus. I'm hoping to find members that can post literately, intelligently, and responsively in the forum to help other members as well as the site as a whole. Preferred skills would include knowing how forum tags work, like bold and color. I am looking for members who are able to post in English, and type well, as English is meant to be typed, n0t jUst lyke dis. I'm looking for someone who can afford to spend up to 5 hours a day for the website, if they had to, because certain times come up where I need the help of one or more staff members for extended periods of time. I want staff members to be flexible, appropriate, and well-mannered.
