The Google Adsense bot monitors users' posts so that it can tailor the ads on the website towards things that the people on the forum might be interested in, like video game stuff.

Because a lot of those search engines use web crawlers to "surf the web" and provide their users with more search results. If the bot doesn't know what is on the website how else can the search engine provide results when someone searches for stuff that is on our forum?
