Good, cheap, long lasting headphones?

Hey guys,
im back.
Anyways, I have been having sh*t luck with my headphones, ive went through like 50 bucks in the last month on headphones. I have these really beaten down ipod stock headphones. But I need to upgrade because I just bought a itouch and xmas is around the corner. Ive had Earpollution MetalDrumz and Wicked Metallics. The Earpollution ones were great, they just blew out while I was giving my friend a hug.
And the Wicked Metallics just fell apart. Literally. The parts that go into your ears came off inside my ears. Well actually. One did. But I fixed the problem with some hockey tape. then the next day the other one just flat out came off. Never to be seen again. So I need to know, whats the top 5 best brands for good, cheap, and long lasting headphones?

$149.
I think more than 20$ is way too much.

IPod ones seem to last the longest for myself, though I don't listen to much music.

With audio you get what you pay for. You aren't going to get great sound for less than $100 for non-in-ear.

Re: Good, cheap, long lasting headphones?

I'm against the in-ear type "sub-dermal" headphones, myself, and for long and semi-rugged use, even jogging, I'd recommend around-ear types. I recently got some Skullcandy Hesh headphones within the last year and I've left the house with them maybe 2-3 times. I'd ONLY used them for the PC and gaming and even with MINIMAL "rugged" use, they've fallen apart. I will say, though, that they are the best headphones I've ever owned and the sound quality is outstanding - particularly if you have a good sound card for PC (Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer card).

If not for the PC, however, I'd say the "around ear" types would be best, but not the typical kind. Something like this design would be good. Image

Not that exact model, because I have no clue what model or make those are. I just got the image from google - but that design. Either something like that or a design where each ear is detached without an "around head" plastic band.

If you're looking for outstanding sound quality, there's really not much you can turn to that doesn't cost $80.00 USD (retail) or more, particularly for sub-dermal design. The way I look at it, I don't expect the highest quality sound for my on-the-go MP3 players. I only expect to not have a crackle during high pitches or a dropout for low bass. I don't really mind not getting the FULL scope and range of the music for MP3 players. For that, I use the computer where I can fully tinker with everything to get the most out of my sound.

The ones that came with my zune are amazing.

If mine ever broke I'd just rebuy the same pair.

Re: Good, cheap, long lasting headphones?

The Zune ones ARE really nice. Technically, the iPod ones are better though. I like how the Zune ones are magnetized and hold together nicely though. The last thing you need is a few knots in your thin headphone wires ;)

Every two and a half weeks? lol. Nah, I like Skullcandy from what I've heard and owned so far, but the build quality is too lackluster for me to purchase them again, I think.
