My sister's laptop has a 286 partition (Drive C) on her laptop... it has windows 7 installed... it has 240 GB of free space... I was wondering if there is a way i can take some space (atleast 50 GB) from that and make into another partition or unpartitioned free space without affecting the windows and files......

Defrag it and then right click computer --> manage --> storage --> disk management --> right click the partition and click shrink volume. Then format the unallocated space as a new partition.

that wouldn't affect the OS and files, right? I almost did that, but then i thought of my sister yelling at me for hours, so i thought I'd just confirm it....

yeah, ace got that pretty good.

windows wont let you take any space its using. if you have unused gb on your windows partition, you can take all of the free space, and never more, so dont worry about deleting stuff.

as for adding, nothing gets changed but the amount of HDD space windows is allowed to access
