The PSP can be semi bricked, and what Da Cool Man said is sometimes helpful if the program you're using is also setup to use the root of the memory stick as a back-up location for the 500.PBP. I'm unsure if this one does, or if his solution will work properly or not for you. My first suggestion is to try another download. If you're sure you have the file in the correct location then I'd try a different download source or a redownload (maybe both) of the file you need. Sometimes files can become corrupt and what not during download or not download completely which may cause the software to read an incorrect file checksum upon trying to locate 500.PBP thus causing an error.
