I have a slim psp cfw 5.00m33-6. I purchased Patapon 2 only to find it requires 5.03 fw. I could not find a easy fix anywhere on the net. So here it is go to the recovery menu go to conf. and turn on use version.txt . Now go to flash0/vsh/etc/version.txt and change the top line to say whatever you need.

Recovery mode is accessible in most custom firmwares by turning the PSP completely off (holding the button up until it fully powers down). To get it to boot into Recovery Mode, you then hold the R-trigger and then while holding the R-Trigger, you turn the PSP on. This should bring up the Recovery Menu
In there you can change the homebrew stuff to make it run.

hey would this be a kind of tut? and this is exactly what i been saying we should have done long ago. make the firmware front like its 6.10 or whatever and then it works. some program instead of being manual.
would this work on say..... assassins creed?

Yes, I've done it.
The game was garbage, though.

ok, I'm trying to set this up on my fat psp. 5.00m33-6.
I've got the setting enabled for using the txt. I just cant find the "flash0/vsh/etc/version.txt"
Can you dumb this down? I don't even know how to get there. Is it within the recovery menu? Or do I need to usb mode and alter it there?

ok, now I'm confused again. Do I only need to change the first value? or do I need to change all the spots that say, "release_500"
Sorry, If this is obvious stuff. I'm just not familiar with what all this code means.
