Booting Iso's and Firmware Versions

Hey all,

I have a 1.5 and i am trying to get some information regarding Iso's. I use umd emulator to play isos. So far i have only been able to get Kingdom of Paradise, Great Ape Escape, and prince of persia to work. I have alot of others - like YS Ark of Napishtim, Sims 2, Megaman Maverick, Gradius, Twisted Metal head on.... does the firmware of the UMD i put in affect the emulation? Like do Iso games require a certain firmware version to run? so lets say that megaman umd requires version 2.5 - would i need a version 2.5 UMD in the psp then load up a program like "no update - umd starter " I have tried a few Bootloaders and get similar results... has anyone gotten these games to work on a 1.5? or am i just retarded and missing something. The other question is what exactly is boot.bin - does it have something to do with the firmware version? - and in Umd Emulator 8c - what happens if you turn it off? Thanks for all your help - Erik

Sorry to say, but those newer games that you have won't work at all... sorry..

ok well the thing is some isos only run on certian loaders like i have madden 2006 that only runs on devhook so you just nedd to try them on different loaders. Fastloader,umd enulator, and devhook are pretty much the best too use so try that and let me know if they work. Also pstationp is right some of the newer games wont work but ur twised metal should work for sure.

what about japaneese games i wanna run guilty gear (J) can that be run on an English PSP?

Yah the umd emulator has a reigon code bypass so try that 1 and let me know.

yes u can run jap games with the umd emulator and as far as 2.o+ games u cannot play on 1.5o psp and that is the end of that question

okay so i can run Guilty Gear (J) which requires 1.52 on my 1.50?

Yah for 1.52 it will bypass the security and the region code so u will b able to play it with a umd or an iso.

Thanks everyone for your feedback - so just so i understand it clearly - I cant play any ISO's that require fw version 2.0 no matter what. Even if i run a app before it loads that tricks the psp into thinking its a different firmware? I just find it funny that there are so many iso's floating around of all these new games and u cant run any of them. lol. Guess ill just keep them until they figure out a way to get them to work. Oh and BTW - anyone have the technical specs of what boot.bin is or does?

now hold on, u CAN play sw:bf2, infected, and nfsmw, jus use umd emulator do a DIRECT LOAD with USE BOOT.BIN ON. But games like gta or socom that REQUIRE 2.x wont work as i have tried. Also that new wwe one wont either. I THINK what the boot.bin is a file that contains info about where all the game files are located so 1.5 knows where to look to load the music, map, etc. Thats what i THINK.

yeah they really need to move the platform up 2-3 notches and make 2.50 or something the base so all homebrew ands ISOs can run off a much more advanced fw version = everyone's happy!
