nothing actually... its just that homebrew cannot be made official for obvious reasons so they have to take a stance against it... So for all those waiting for sony to officially support homebrew, go fish!
It'll never happen, they cant do it at the risk of legal problems. They CAN, however, introduce partial support (make it easy to run homebrew) and officially take a stance against it... All marketing strategies...
Im sure sony sees the potential of allowing support for homebrew (mega sales)... So i think they will go for the above strategy sometime in the future...

Whaty do you mean by legal reasons? You can create your own games for PC so why not PSP. As long as they arent of copyrighted or trademarked things shouldn't it be perfectly legal?

ONE PROBLEM

A PC is not the propriety hardware of a particular company... besides a pc is made for diverse applications like that.

A PSP is a gaming device, pure and simple. See, if the PSP were to run other software then whats the use of making any games at all.

Homebrew:
And when i refer to homebrew games created by programmers, Sony has a small issue with this but it still is an issue nonetheless cos if someone comes up with good enough games then everyone'll stop playing UMD games for the PSP. Sony will be hit there.

As for homebrew software, i think it look some homebrew programmers to make sony realize that the they are undermining the PSPs capabilities. Now they wanna block homebrew software so sony ONLY will be able to develop retail software which ppl will HAVE to buy = $$$ for Sony.

Roms:
Legal issues, i dont really have to explain this one. Anyone could file a public interest litigation against sony for supporting other console roms on the PSP without explicit rights.

More than anything, sony does not like their hold over the console spiralling out of control... They want it to be such that they release UMDs, ppl buy them, play them, profit made, everybody happy - pure and simple. But things aren't going like that and its the unpredictable that scares Sony onto the fight or flight mentality. Now they cannot run so they have to fight...
