Nintendo DS emulation is a little complicated, especially with only 1 screen to work with.

I'd [rather accurately] argue that there will never be a worthy Nintendo DS emulator for the PC or PSP. Diamond and Pearl are no doubt going to be pretty good games but I don't that I'd let that convince me into buying a DS instead of a PSP. The PSP can play all of the other Pokemon games as well as thousands of other games - for free. The DS DOES offer some good fun and I don't mean to generalize too much, but Nintendo targets a younger audience most of the time and b/c of that the DS just might feel like the best choice to you. I bought the PSP just because it played music and games - without even knowing of the hours upon hours of fun I'd have with my other 3,000 or so games that I have for it (from all of my favorite systems ;) ).

I'd say get a psp hands down, but the final decision has to rest with what you really think is best. Pokemon games are a system seller for a reason, they're just great games. If the new Pokemon game(s) is really that important to you, then I'd suggest to get a DS b/c I don't see that game being fun on a psp - even if there were an emulator for it. If not, get a PSP.

If your looking for fun that lasts Better to get a DS and a passkey because 5-10 Ds games = 1psp iso so you get more out of small memory
plus you can download pokemon diamond on ds

But the psp is an amazing machine because of the homebrew

I actually hardly play both of them anymore, but I play my DS more than my PSP.

I have both a psp and a ds, and would have to say that i use my psp more, mainly because of all the homebrew, but im not sure if they sell psps that you can downgrade still. ds's on the other hand do have a lot more games then the psp. so if your going to be legit get a ds, if your going to use homebrew/isos get a psp.

Only get a PSP for brewing.

If I didn't know about the two, I'd go with the DS. Sure the brew sucks at the most part, but the games are pretty sweet. Then again, the PSP is a worthy machine.

There's hardly any more games in the DS game library than the PSP's. The last time I looked at a count for game titles released by a certain date it was like 94 to 112 in favor of the DS - that isn't much to brag about and also the games tend to be short bursts of fun. I don't mean to bash the DS because I think it's a great handheld but most of the games that I've played on the DS felt like I could make my own homemade emulator with a stick in a sandbox.

Yes PSP has its moments but not a lot of the games (besides breath of fire 3 and GTA series)
are that good, some others yes but lots of the DS games when in quality come in great expansions.

There goes Mailas with his "breath of fire 3" plugs again lol. But yea, the great games on the psp are fewer than the DS, but one must also look at the considerable differences between the best of one system compared to the best of another. While a DS owner may be happy that they have the Mario Kart Double Dash, I am equally if not more happy that I have Super Mario Kart (SNES)(GBA) as well as the Nintendo 64 version on my psp. Medal of Honor Heroes looks just like it does on the consoles and is just as long a game. The Grand Theft Auto games speak for themselves and games like Need For Speed Carbon and Daxter, as well as earlier titles like Star Wars Battlefront II and WipEout Pure offer significant advances in terms of graphics as well as gameplay that the Nintendo DS is simply just not built to handle.

Edit

If you want to learn the truth about the psp, then I encourage you to look at this site. On that site they separate the rumors from the actual information and facts (with a slight bit of fanboy thinking - so weed that out). Overall though, it is a very informative resource for learning about the psp.

I would have to say buy both. I bought a PSP for my birthday, and then afew months later i bought an NDS with a supercard. I had tons of fun, then ended up selling my nds only because i needed the money to buy a Wii from someone online the next day. I am now thinking of buying again, because it was just that fun, and with the cost of a new NDS Lite + supercard + passcard, you can get well over 500 hours of play (cost is around 300$ for everyhing brand new), which comes to a MEGA CHEAP 1.67 hours of play per dollar spent on it.

Truth is, I loved the nds and psp, but I really wanted a wii, so I had to make a tough choice. I would have prefered to sell the psp, but it was only because i got it as a gift that I decided to sell the NDS.

GET BOTH
I see into the future when I smoke the stuff I found in the back alley.
