Could non-downgradable PSPs be coming to retail stores?
According to Nadclovek from PSP-Spot, new shipments of Playstation Portables will be coming to stores with a higher firmware (4.xx) They will be sold at the retail price of 169.99 CAD or around US$ 153.67. Although its a good price to par for the unit this could mean no homebrew, that brings me to the question; is it worth it?
Nadclovek says:
"Sony was sending out Emails to its Commercial Retailers that all new PSPs to be sent out will have 'Downgradable Prevention' built right into them. All new PSPs to be shipped out as of next week Friday, May 18th, will be a higher firmware, 4.xx (specifics were not released), but they were promised to include new security features to prevent hacks and downgrades. Apparently this is one of their first steps to start focusing on the PSP again, instead of diverting all attention to the PS3."
Keep in mind that this is only a rumor for now, but this would not be good if it was true because it could end any homebrew chances on new psps.

Well just thought i would post it here because i do not think a lot of people go to the main page so yea.
What are your thoughts about it?
I do not think it will happen if it does you will be screwed for life. But i also think there will be a way somehow to downgrade it because nothing is impossible.

Like i said in the news article its just a rumor so far.
Im wondering if these "new" psps will have a new motherboard. If there is a new 4.xx FW that means a new custom one

There's no such thing as a
"non-downgradable" PSP.

Why do they waste their time making this non-downgradable sh*t? If people want to get around it they will.

But they said 3.xx would be the same way it wasn't so that there proves a point.

You crack me up shay. But yea, I'm not worried about a "nondowngradeable" psp. I mean, c'mon guys, every single psp firmware revision up to this point has been dubbed "nondowngradeable" and many of the firmwares have been decrypted with the EXACT SAME DECRYPTION KEY. Any psp will be able to be downgraded.
Unless you are a beautiful woman, you couldn't convince me otherwise... and even then it would take some skill.

Give it some time.
Although Sony(R) is making
all these threats about non-
downgrade-ables, i'm
almost certain that it will be
extremely difficult to crack
the protection; difficult, not
impossible, however.
