Freedom of Speech

I made this one a little shorter i hope you read it.

Kay, critics have called for a complete ban on rap music because it "encourages" racism and violence. They want to censor music. But tell me would that not take away the freedom of speech because music is a form of speech.

I for one support the freedom of speech, and if racist terms are said I would not personally care because I believe everyone is entitled to his or her opinion no matter how vulgar or disruptive.

Banning certain words/phrases from our language is banning freedom of speech. Since it is a freedom of speech there should be no limits or would you rather prefer our "censored english language."?

If they did that, then they would have to ban a lot of reggae as well since theyre more vulgar and descriptive than rap. But this goes back to the old saying that even fanjita used himself...

If you choose to shoot someone, it is not the fault of the gun manufacturer. If you pulled the trigger, then you committed the crime. In other words, just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

This ban isnt something new though, theyve been talking about it for quite a few years and still havent proceeded with anything. I do however feel that a lot of music has gone down the drain and that the labels are letting people release too many songs that are completely about nothing "Laffy taffy", "chicken noodle soup", "lip gloss", etc. If they want to control something i feel they should make it so that songs have to meet a certain criteria before being played on the air instead of completely banning them.

Well freedom of speech is great, aside from the fact that you can't say anything mean to a higher authority because they think it's considered a "threat". But really, there are some things that it would be better off not said. I think when they made that bill, they were thinking america would have enough common sense to know not to go around in public cussing at everyone. Just not good manners. I mean really. I would rather we have partial freedom of speech because of some of the idiots out there that take advantage of it by going around and just cussing at random people or what ever example you want to use.

eh well look at it this way. if your vulgar listen to vulgar music. if your not then turn said vulgar music OFF.

I support freedom of speech and all but.......I just wish you could have "freedom of speech" in the class room and just say what you want
to the teacher you know? That would be great.

We don't have TRUE freedom of speech. If we did, you wouldn't get in trouble for making threats toward the President, toward other authority figures, for yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, etc. There are too many idiots out there and that's why they have to police things like these.

yea i agree, i believe in freedom of speach to, and this country realy isnt a "free country" in my opinoin.

i think america has it good. cuz some other countrys dont even have freedom of speech. so i think we should be happy with what we have. some people wished they could have it good like us.

i dont think we will make it past 50 more years, with all the wars and weapons of mass destruction. one countries going to get scared and launch the nukes then russia will defend its self and launch everything thave got and that will spawn mass war, countries that we didnt even now had weapons will launch missils, the world will go into WW3 and before u know it, it will all be gone we will be in "Nuclear Fallout" for decades (the whole world) there will be some survivors all over the place but the point is not only america is corrupt the whole world is.

north korea will shoot a missile and then america will blow korea off the map. then all hell will let loose. unless we have team america

freedom of speech pertains to the government mostly you can speak out against whatever you know for instance there's alot of people going around saying bush sucks or whatnot but these are the same people not voting now

in soviet union you said some something bad about anything you would go missing the next day

and yes freedom of speech is not totally free but thats because they're a**holes that abuse it and yell out fire in a crowd it causes panic

as for corruption lol thats been around since the dawn of man its just greed

as for the world ending that concept has been around for awhile doesn't anybody remember the cold war???

ask me any day of the week and i will tell you 80 percent of rap is crap go listen to a rap song a newer one and listen to it i mean really listen to it make sure you grasp a clear meaning of what you're listening to now think about what you just heard i mean rap has pratically turned all the bad into cool murdering, selling drugs, gettiing shot, dying, prositution, and whatever else you heard that i've failed to mentioned it glorifys all of that i mean hey i was a victim of that too i would just listen without thinking and thats what people are starting to do more and more rap isn't all bad you know some people try to make rap good but the bad outweighs the good

my request is go watch this movie its called idiocracy before you watch this movie take accounts of todays world and then watch this movie you will be scared
