Noob/Beginner Tut - TK421

This Probably Leans Toward beginners :)

Here is the final Outcome:
Image
Theres little pink dots all around in the sig...that was from a mistake I made while making this, your sig will not have little pink dots if u do it correctly...

You can get these brushes at DeviantArt

First, start by opening a document with a black background, with any size u like.
I chose 400x150.

Next, create a new layer and brush over the black with white with any sort of grunge or abstract brush.

Next i duplicated the white layer to make it even more white.

Heres what we have so far:
Image

Next, I created a new layer and brushed with a black brush, and duplicated that one as well. Using the duplicated layer, I added a gaussian blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur), to enhance the feel of the black and simply to make it look cooler.

Heres what we have so far:
Image

Next, I created another layer and brushed with a white brush again. For this final layer you may want to use brushes that appear sort of shiny. One set I use a lot for this is called tgset3 which you can find on Deviantart. It is almost necessary to duplicate and gaussian blur this layer, but it depends what kind of look you want.

Heres what we have now:
Image

Note: you can make as many of these alternating black/white layers as you like, for this one I only made 3.

Next, to give your sig more depth, go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels
Click OK to the small box that appears, and you'll see this:
Image

The adjustment bar in between the other two is shadows. Move this bar towards the right or left to your liking. You can experiment with the other bars, too, but don't get too crazy.

Heres what levels I adjusted for this sig:

Your sig should now look something like this:
Image

Now its time to add some color.
Select the layer right below the levels layer and the go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Color Balance.

Click OK to the small box that pops up and you'll see this:
Image

You'll want to uncheck "Preserve Luminosity."
You can adjust the levels of the colors in the Shadows and Midtones and Highlights, but don't go too High with the highlights(lol), as it may look not so good.

After you have the color you want, make sure your color balance layer is selected and go to Filter>Render>Clouds. This will make it so that only some of the layer is visible. Next, make as many more color balance layers as you like until you have the colr you desire.
For this sig I only used one color balance layer.
Heres what my adjustment bars look like for this Color Balance Layer:

Heres what we have so far:

Next, Cut out the person or character you would like to be in the sig. (Called Rendering)

Whenever I have more than 1 render in a sig I like to put one a little further into the background than the other, so you have one single focus in the sig.
Heres what we have now:
Image

The next step is to add that shape that you see throughout the sig.
I'll refer to it as the tech shape, aight?
First you need to create a new layer.
Take out the Polygonal Lasso Tool, and make a selection like so, on that new layer. Be sure to hold shift so you can make straight lines.

Image

Now go to Edit>Fill and choose white color at 100%.

Heres what we have now:
Image

Now, with that layer still selected, go to Layer>Layer Style>Bevel and Emboss(keep at default).
Next Go to Layer>Layer Style>Blending Options and set Blend mode to Overlay.
Next Go to the same Layer Styles menu and add an Outer Glow and 1px stroke.
Next select some parts of the shape and cut them out, and you have this (I did another Shape besides the one preseneted.):
Image

To add a simple border, Create a new layer above all the others, and Press ctrl+A to select all, and go to Edit>Stroke and make it Black 1px.

Well, I think they were deleted by the image hosting service. You'd have to find another beginner tutorial on here. I have one up somewhere....

Yeah, this has happened to some of our tutorials in other sections as well due to hosting being cut off/ deleted etc. If someone can't find the images used for this tutorial, private message me and I will take down the "advertising" images. But if you do find them, let me know so I can fill them in.
