So you decided to buy a broken 360 in plans of fixing it with no prior knowledge? XD That's why were trying to get xboxbrew back alive again, so you can get help with xbox's. Anyways, did you try replacing the video cable, tried different kinds of video cables? Are you getting any error codes? Secondary codes?

Well what's the error code? like when you turn it on do you get any red lights on the front, if so how many and what sections. Also do you get any secondary codes or beeps?
If it wasn't the cable, try cleaning the contacts in the xbox (the output jack on the back) with like a cotton swab or something. Your friend could've messed up something inside when he took it apart.

I bet it may be the video cable. u said u already changed out all that tho. :? idk. Its a hard concept. Maybe opening someone elses 360 with their permission and see what all is different.

If it's not the video cable, I'm sure it's the motherboard/ solder that connects with the video out cable. I was at BenHeck.com and he had an extensive layout of the pins. It would be possible to dissect the video cable and connect them directly to the pins that they correspond with, but I'd make sure that you do that as a last resort.
