R button

I sent my PSP away to get fixed and they sent me a new one (Don't know if I have to send it back or not), it came today and the R Button is somewhat stuck. When it's pressed down, half the button goes down and the other half stays up. Like this..

I don't really wanna take it apart, because it might have to go back.
Anyone know how to fix it?

First, I'd try to out-muscle it and press it really hard, which I'm sure you've probably done. Second, I'd look into having them replace it again. That's a rough fix though. The ONLY thing I can come up with is sliding a very thin piece of paper into the backside of the R button, which would HOPEFULLY dislodge anything stuck inside... but that's a long shot. If all fails, get another.

It cost $168 (Flat rate) to get my old one repaired, then they sent me this one. If I send it back, it might cost another $168. Better f**cking not!

Edit: Is there anything else?

You call Sony, and Sony will not listen. Then get a manager or person of higher power on the line, and use a very stern voice to say that you paid $168 only to receive a broken PSP, and that you want a free replacement. If they refuse, ask them who you need to talk to in order to notify them that you will be filing a lawsuit. Even if you won't file a lawsuit, companies tend to not like that kind of talk, and may grant you the replacement ;)

Tough situation, but best of luck.

You just have to be very stern if they seem to be unwilling to help. If you fail once, call again, get a different operator on the line, and keep on trying.

Not to my knowledge. I've never even heard of a broken button like that. But wait for others to comment on it. Aside from trying to push it down really hard, or simply slamming the button against the edge of a table or something... I don't see what could "fix" it. I'm not even sure if anything is jamming it really...

It wasn't from sony. It was from these guys called Fiztronics, they are the only people in New Zealand that can fix cracked screens.

What I would do is get those people on the phone and try to settle the matter.

I'm unfamiliar with "Fiztronics", but I was under the suspicion that the PSP you received was from Sony. In this case, threatening to file a complaint or seek legal action will be much more successful, but probably not needed. I'd call them up and inform them of exactly what is happening, and make them know that it is THEIR doing/ responsibility, not yours.

Smaller business = increased chances of getting what you want... unless you got it from Wal-Mart... because they're just dumb ;) lol

The R button most likely isnt sitting correctly in its place. Take the faceplate off, the R trigger button will just slide right out of its area...just place it back in and make sure that it lies correctly when you put the faceplate back on. It's pretty simple to do...if you need a guide on disassembly, you can find one on llamma.com
