First off, what firmware are you currently on?
CFW pwns--v

Running Homebrew! Homebrew is the main program type used in the psp custom firmware programs. These include IR Shell where you can:
It lets you listen to your music while you play games.
Put shortcut to your homebrew programs and emulators on your psp.
has a cool Universal Remote program you can use to control different devices.
Its just basically another XMB, but in a different format.
It is pretty cool, it has easy access to devhook and you can also go into USB Mode and you don't even have to keep your screen sitting there. You can be in USB Mode and off listening to music and going into different sections on your psp.
Theres more stuff, you will see all the different things if you get it.

You can also play NES, SNES, N64, SEGA, and GBA emulators on your psp with custom firmware. So you can play about all NES, SNES, SEGA games on your psp. And there are not quite as many N64 games that you can play on your psp, but about 15? or so work alright. Such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart, Starfox 64 and Super Smash Bros, or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time sort of.

You can also watch youtube videos directly from your psp using your wireless internet.

You can also easily play PS1 games on your PSP, and also PSP ISO game files too.

You can also have short intro videos pop up when you turn on your PSP.

That is a short list of stuff I guess Very Happy. It is pretty cool, i would recommend getting custom firmware. It is the same thing as regular firmware, except is has so much extra stuff you can do.

Lol! I have spent so much time trying to answer this question to new people that I just writ up that thing and use it to answer everyone.. BTW: a later N64 emulator has came out since I updated that, and games run more smoother.

And to answer the other question he had:
In order to get from OFW to CFW, it depends which Firmware you have, there are many ways to downgrade. It depends which firmware you have for which way you should use, it would be really nice if you are still at a lower firmware and have not updated in a while, and also have an old GTA:LCS or Lumines game.

Edit: I just noticed in that quote, it says "Very Happy" because :D ="Very Happy". Its weird that quotes don't show the emotion.

You can downgrade 3.50 either with an old Lumines I game or using a "Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick". Do you happen to have an old Lumines I game lying around? Or one you can borrow from a friend?

Alright, yea the new Lumines game doesn't work because it has been "fixed" by sony, the new releases of the game don't enable you to downgrade with them. I guess the best choice now would to use the "Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick" But in order to do with, you will need to have access to a PSP with custom firmware on it already, or one with 1.50 on it.
Or, you can make your battery by opening it up and desoldering a pin or something.
Or you could buy them off ebay.

1. If you choose to try to buy it on Ebay, I think all ya need to buy is the Pandora's Battery, so type that in on eBay. I think you can just download the files needed to put on the memory stick which would make it a "Magic Memory Stick"

2. $35-40? Plus shipping.

3. Once you have the "Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick" all you have to do is stick them into your psp, and it should auto-boot and you just follow the onscreen directions and you should be sitting on a 1.50 PSP.

4. You can convert your own battery in a "Pandora's Battery" by messing with teh insides, i forget where the post was taht DarkPacman made that had a tutorial, but there is also some info on the front page about this.

5. Yea, you might be able to find one on eBay, and someone here Can do it for you if you send them your battery and pay a small fee and also shipping.
