any homebrew games that run with 3.9

You need custom firmware 3.90 M33 not official firmware 3.90.

You need to downgrade 3.90 which you need "pandora". Check around the threads for pandora.

you need to downgrade your psp, from 3.9 to 1.5 and then update to 3.90 M33-2 through the proper channels

If it's a slim is DOES NOT involve downgrading. With 3.90 your only option is using pandora to reflash a different firmware. Look in our tutorials section. If you only have 1 psp at your disposal I have a guide I wrote up on how to use pandora with only 1 psp.
