Can anybody help in downgrading a 2.81 phat PSP?

Hi there, I'm new to PSP modding and would like to install custom firmware on my PSP.

I have a phat black PSP with 2.81 firmware on it. I don't have the PSP with me at this moment so I can't check what motherboard it has but I'll repost about that later.

I understand that in order for me to install custom firmware I must first downgrade my PSP to FW 1.50.

I've been searching around on the internet and there's so many ways to downgrade PSPs that I've become immensely confused on which is actually the RIGHT way to do it or if it is actually possible.

Can someone please give me a little guidance?

Well, actually they are all 'right' in a sense becuase they are all valid ways that do work...

1. You could use a Pandora's battery and a Magic Memory Stick to do it.
2. You could use the Lumines Hack which allows you to downgrade to 1.50 from 3.50

Those are the only two that come to mind right now... There are more ways, even of they are just spinoffs of the top... If you want to try any of the upper two methods then reply and I'll hook you up with a nice tutorial or at least a link in the right direction...

I'd be interested in hearing the method with the Pandora battery as it's essential to being able to install custom firmware on my PSP right? Or can it be done without the Pandora battery?

Also do you need 2 PSPs to make a Pandora Battery? As that's the information I've come across on the net.

Also is there any way to downgrade 2.81 without lumines or a Pandora battery? I read in a few places that there's an easy downgrader that can do it, but other places say the downgrader only works from 2.80 and under.

you dont need two psp to make a pandora battery...although to make it with only one psp you will need to open it up or you could buy a datel tool battery(its already modded). you are also going to need a magic ms(a normal ms with certain programs to put cfw on ur psp).

Is that link a valid tutorial? Because it seems from there that I don't need to open up the PSP battery in order to make a Pandora battery.

I'd much rather do something that doesn't involve having to open up my PSP or it's battery.

you need a second psp that has cfw already on it to use that method...if you dont want to open a battery and modd it...buy a datel tool battery

Is the Pandora battery necessary to install custom firmware? Or will I need it just for the downgrade?

Also I read about a downgrading technique for models under 3.03, does that work? One needed a cop of GTA LCS and another didn't.

Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I just want to get to grips with all the different modding as I always like to be fully informed before going into something.

the pandora is need if ur using that method. the other methods do work so i would try them(i havnt done it but know ppl who have)
