Is the most recent firmware the best one? 3.90 M33-2?

i was just curious, i know a decent amount about psp homebrew, but im curious if each new release of M33 firmwares is the current best one out there?

currently im on 3.80 m33-5, should i even bother going to 3.90 m33-2? just wondering how much of a difference the newest firmwares make, do they improve that much or do these new versions only have like 1 or 2 tweaks that most probably don't even notice?

Here are two links that may give you insight of what has been added to the latest version of M33.

1st link (quite extensive to read, but worth skimming at the very least) (click here)

2nd link (easier to read--I quoted the info below) (click here)

3.90 M33
3.90 M33 was released on January 31, 2008. This new firmware uses the 3.90 kernel and includes a bug fix for March33 NO UMD. The installer was also improved with the ability to download the 3.90.PBP file as returning a way for the user to bypass the battery check during updating. The 1.50 kernel add-on for PSP-1000 was also released the same day. An update for the M33 version was released on February 08, 2008.

Update 2 was released on February 13, 2008. It involved improvements in plugins loading code which fixed some problems with problematic cards due to filesystem not getting mounted. Also rest of the regions were added to the recovery fake region. Changes were also made in the updater which allowed for stable and faster reading from memory stick.

I'd advise to just stay on your current firmware for now. There aren't any major updates that are worth upgrading, especially if you may have taken time out of your day to make flash0 customizations to your PSP.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think 3.90 MM-2 gives you the ability to now use 8GB memory sticks.

true, i usually read the update description i dunno, i just seem to see a lot of people who prefer random versions like they run better than the more up to date versions. im not sure exactly but seems a lot like 3.52 m33? just curious as to why people use that, or is it just because its one of the original m33's? (haha never mind guess you cannot use 3.52 on slims, maybe thats where i was confused)

but anyway, thanks for the links, i've read them before but missed this line "Changes were also made in the updater which allowed for stable and faster reading from memory stick" which sounds like a good addition

i guess it also depends on what you do with your psp, seems like a lot of people put a lot of stuff on theirs

my main reason for homebrew is to play nes, snes, genesis, etc on my psp (so sick of playing emulators on computer)
and i've thrown some nice themes on their and whatnot to make it look better as well as a few other things, but i don't really have the desire to put a boat load of things on here i guess

and ive stayed away from flash0 customizations, seems it can be risky (although i have a pandora battery so i don't think it would matter) or maybe just a pain

Flash0 customizations aren't something to be afraid of anymore now that we are capable of fixing bricks easily. I mean, I've been modding my flash0 since the 1.50 days and I've been fine ;)

All in all though, unless you're bored, I wouldn't upgrade for anything in particular.
