Sorry to make another post. I am running out of time. Ship out for me is 12 to 36 hours now.
I am leaving my Jap 1.5 in the states for my son. I would like to have a psp for myself.
Should I buy a phat off of ebay or a slim and make a pandora battery?
Thanks,
Semper Fi

well if you think you can make the pandora and all that in the time you have before you ship off, then yeah slim would be my choice. (unless you can do it overseas, not sure the situation)

I was trying to quickly read the tutorial on pandora's battery. I am not quite clear when I would have to use my 1.5 psp for this procedure . Does it make any difference that it has the Japanese firmware on it? When do I have to use the 1.5 psp? Depending on this, if I could do most of the stuff and make the battery before I leave, I might get a chance to downgrade a slim later.
Is there a lot of homebrew I won't be able to do on a slim?
I know, lots of questions, but I don't have time to read everything. Sorry
I appreciate everyone being so helpful and nice to me,

Most homebrew requires the 1.50 kernel, and the slim isn't compatible to 1.50. Unless you use the Time Machine Method and supposedly you can load 1.50 from the memory stick on a slim and you can run 1.50 homebrew.

Thanks AdventWolf,
I wanted to fool with homebrew, so maybe I will ask someone to watch on ebay for a phat 1.5. I could still run isos on a slim right with the downgrade?
I won't have access to a computer too much once I am back in the land of sand anyway.
Got to run, got my call to pick up my gear from the armory. I get a new vest...

Just do buy it now on a phat that has a version of M33 installed

Well I think you might be happier with the slim, more and more homebrew is coming out for the slim. You will still have about all the emulators you want to use. You have twice as much RAM in the slim for better internet browsing. Plus you can use Skype (Well you probably won't use it) And you have video output so you can play your games on the big screen. You can do what you want, but there aren't many disadvantages to getting a slim.
Except you lose the IR ports with the slim so you won't be able to use the psp as a universal remote. The time machine will be perfected in time so you will be able to use that to play the 1.50 homebrew. But if you do get a phat you will not be disappointed.

Well I don't have time now, but it is the latest IR Shell, you can download ir codes and stick them in the 'IRCODES' folder.

Is there any psp slim that can't be downgraded? I leave today, so I have to hit up Best Buy quickly. Decided June was too far off to wait on the God of War red. I agree, you think they would have released the pack when the game was new. That's Sony for ya.
Tried to make a pandora battery and memory stick. Guess I will find out if they work later.

I'm outta here!
My thanks to all that have helped me. I did grab a slim from Best Buy. I will see if my son will post for me sometime and let you know if I blew up the slim or not. If I get a hop to Japan or somewhere like that, I will try to post again.
My fun and games are over.
Take care guys,
