80020148... such a terrible string of numbers. It's always so hard to determine just exactly WHAT the problem is. I advised him over AIM how to fix the problem according to what many people believe is the OFFICIAL way to fix it, but it still didn't work.
Here's the problem. He needs to install the firmware 3.80 1.50 kernel add-on to his custom 3.80. He's downloaded it, placed it in the PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder... but it's showing corrupt data when he's trying to run it.
Since today I'm less drunk than I was yesterday, I have a couple suggestions. Regarding installing the 1.50 kernel add-on, you should maybe try to put the files in THIS directory instead... "x:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/UPDATE" - thus making a second "UPDATE" folder and seeing if it will pop up. If that doesn't work, I'd try moving the UPDATE folders (both of them) to a "GAME150" (shouldn't work) and a "GAME380" folders. I think that didn't work the other day when we tried it, but also, we didn't try making a duplicate UPDATE folder to go inside the other one either.
Also, regarding many homebrew apps. You may have better luck downloading the 1.00 firmware builds (the ones that don't have a "% folder" like Daedalus%). You could probably put those in the GAME380 folder and have them work fine using the 3.80 kernel alone... but there are many programs that won't work that way as well.
