Thanks ninja.

Only problem is, I have no idea how to use Despertar...I can't find a thread that clearly lays it out. So far, I have the means to make a magic mem stick and a pandora battery, but like I said above, it won't auto-boot with my slim so I can downgrade it (but it does worth with the 1.5 fatt I used to make it.
Can anyone shed some light on how to use Despertar? (if that is indeed the route I need to go)
Thanks.

As the read-me states, you need a memory stick that has the ipl written to it. If you have that, you can copy the files to your memory stick. The totalnewbie installer can put Despertar version 3 on the stick, and asddasit wrote a tutorial that explains Despertar. With the ms, put the battery in, look to see if any of the lights turn on, or just watch the screen. (Early versions of the program had no visual) When the psp is on, press X to install 3.71M33-2.

The link wont work by clicking it. See how half of it is broken, you have to copy and paste it. Dont know why it only uses a portion of it for the hyperlink.
