I just bought a PSP (slim with 3.80fw) and I'm interested in adding some custom programs. I know how to do it, but I just had 3 questions regarding the safety of homebrewing.

1. If I add custom firmware, will it disable other features (PSN downloadable content, wifi access, locationfree, PS3 connectivity, etc)

2. Could adding firmware permenantly damage my system (errors, viruses, bricking?)

3. After adding custom firmware, could I boot my system and return it to all its factory settings?

No, Custom Firmware is the same as Authentic Firmware, except CFW will allow you to homebrew games and applications.


Only if you don't follow directions. I have not yet bricked my PSP--knock on wood. And you can get bad downloads if you don't at least pay attention where the best "safe" places are.


Yes, but why would you want to do that? CFW rocks!

You'll need to learn about M33 custom firmwares.. should be all you ever need.
