Crisis Core ><

Yolla,

So my Bro bought Crisis Core & the god of War game last week for his B-day, he is a big fan of both series (as am I).

The psp is mine, running 5.00 M33-3.

I started Crisis Core last Tuesday (but only play here and there), while my Bro wanted to play GoW until he beat it. And he did so yesterday. So today when he got home from school his goal was to start playing Crisis Core.

But there seems to be a problem . . . The game freezes/skips when it starts. You can hit Start and get New and Load to show up. Starting a new game, it would just freeze.

The game worked flawlessly. I started a file an made it about 4-5 hours in (I'm in Sector 5 Slums), but now it freezes. The game is 100% in prefect condition. It has either been in it's case, or in the PSP (I'm 22, my bro is 17...we know how to take care of video games/CDs).

It just started this freezing today.

So I thought I'd try making a back up ISO/CSO file and try to play from it. . . used a tut. from here, but it crasher at 28% (my psp starts to make a load sound..spinning the UMD at a faster rate, I assume).

Has anyone else had an issue with this game?
Is there another way to make a back up via NOT using USBSSS? (I know I could download it, but atm we are on Dial-up with no change soon in the future. I'd rather not take 2-3 days to download the file >< nor do I want to download an ISO/CSO as it is illegal).

I'm not sure if he kept the receipt to do an exchange/take back (and it has been 8 days from purchase).

Not sure if it matters, but I have a Fatty PSP

I'm kind of bummed, and he is just pissed.

Any help is grand.

Thanks
DOOOM!

I use the iso on my phat psp, works fine except for when it gets to the larger sized cut scene movies where it just proceeds to skip like you described.

Do you have your cpu speed overclocked on your psp to 333 for games? If not, try that out.

The only other thing i could think of would be that the umd drive might have scratched it somehow. If you have the receipt for the game my suggestion would just be to exchange it.

Being new to the CFWs, how do I go about over-clocking it? I totally forgot about being able to do this, and it might just help. I'll poke around and try to figure it out, but I'm slow :p

i think you can do it from your xmb if you hit the select button. It'll bring up a vsh menu with a few options...one of them being able to overclock your xmb speed and the other to overclock your game speed.

if you cant access it that way, then you can hold the r trigger when you turn on your psp to bring you into the recovery menu. from there its in configurations i believe.

So I gave it a try, didn't know if there is a safe level or not.. Si I only over-clocked by 100.

I also tried to copy the UMD another way.

With using USBSSS and this way, both got the same error.

The error pops up around 28% copied, and says something along the lines of "Can't copy {The name, don't remember it} from [my psp driver]. The parameters are wrong (might have been "Invalid)".

O.o?

by setting it at 100 you actually made it slower...the default speed that the psp uses is 222 i believe.

overclocking to 333 is completely safe, i use it and have always used it. i'm pretty sure almost everyone else who has a fair amount of knowledge on the psp uses 333 as well.

i've never used usbhost or usbsss so i cant provide any kind of info on it.

@steeler - he said he's on dial up and he's using the umd. dial up = 2 day downloads

Just a closing post.

I tried max over-clock, didn't help T.T

Asked the Bro when he came home about the receipt, and he is not sure if he still has it/where it would be. I told him he needs to look for it ASAP tomorrow.

ISO/CSO download would be great, but I'd have to do it else where.. I also need a bigger memory stick for mine is only a 1gig (as I'm unsure what the size of C.C is, but God of War was 1.2gig after being compressed).

So thanks for all the replies, and here is to hoping he finds the receipt so he can hopefully exchange it -.-

Depending on how it was paid you may be able to still return it, as long as you can prove you bought it. With it being a recent purchase the store probably has a record of the purchase that is easily accessible. Just talk to the manager and explain the situation calmly and maturely. Regular staff don't really give a s**t about customers, but managers have numbers to meet, and with the economy the way it is they aren't (or at least shouldn't) going to want to lose a customer.

Theres smaller full versions of the games available, just have to know where to look. I have god of war full version at only 200 and something megabytes.

but yeah even if you cant find the recipt for crisis core, do as brent suggested. it's a fairly new purchase.
