Problems with unbricking

I've been off for a very long time now i'm back but my psp got bricked so i bought myself the battery service tool which can switch your psp to tool mode and back to normal mode i also made a magic stick with the TOTALNewbieasyInstaller. Then i putted both in my psp then all my leds are on but i have a black screen some say you have to push x or hold left trigger tried them both didnt work what should i do what could i have possibly done wrong help would be welcome
