I was planning on buying the Samsung SCH-i760 and i was wondering is it possible to put custom apps on it? I have Visual studio 2008 professional and i can write programs for a windows based smart phone but is there a way to get them on this specific phone? or does verizon do some stupid thing that blocks it?

Not true.

I have owned several phones by different manufacturers that I have released with Verizon as my provider. I currently own an XV6800 and am running custom firmware.

I think what you are thinking about is the fact that ALL cell providers (Maybe not T-mobile cause they suck) track ESN numbers. This is a special serial number that designates what cell company the phone was originally intended for. I know that Sprint AT&T and Verizon sometimes have the same model phone. The ESN number determines which provider it was originally intended for and this number goes in a database. In order to use this number with the provider your phone's ESN has to be in this database. If not then you don't get service and there is nothing the company will do for you (unless you know the right person on the inside).

I would not recommend the Samsung SCH-i760 to anyone but if you insist on having one then you should check the reviews on Cnet first and then check out Howard forums (use google for both). Howard forums will tell you what you can do or where to go as far as customizing your phone is concerned.

there is this guy on castinate . com (i dont want a link) that gives you hidden things to find- i wrote some crappy notes if it helps. 1.there was an increase in the fed tax. say its an adverse affect on you.
you can cancel if theres a change a price. you have to do it in 60 days.
the fed charge is a government tax o the carrier. they pawn like a tax.
point to charges and fees we set-fed univeresal sir charge- they set it
the charges and feees we set includes the fed charge.

2.they will say material adverse affects has nothing to do with price change,
its about coverage(and adverse affect)-in there it has to do with prices in the charges we set

3.they will say its not materialy adverse affect-say they cant tell me what that means to me. use percentages if possible.

4.they will offer the credit to you( this is where you flip it)dont do it.
this proves that there is an affect, buying you out.
nothing in the contract says you can negate the affect. at all.
there admitting the affect is there because they are trying to negate-that proves it and your out.

now get them to see what tyouve proved and you win!!!!)

I love the phone.

There is a newer model out (6900)but it doesn't have WiFi. The 6800 does and you can hack it to watch and download Youtube, run GPS maps and more!

I would recommend XV6800 over anything Samsung or Palm makes in a smart phone.
