Well since your at Sony 3.40 firmware you cant run homebrew. The only Sony firmware that was capable of running homebrew was 1.50 which is where a downgrader would come into play so that you could get from a higher firmware back to 1.50. Currently the highest firmware capable of being downgraded is 3.03. So at the moment you have 3 options, 1. you can either sit tight and wait for a downgrader to be developed which may be days/weeks/months no one really knows. 2. you can purchase a new motherboard with a firmware capable of being downgraded. 3. you can purchase a mod chip.
1st option is free. 2nd option will cost approximately $10-$20. 3rd option will cost $79.99-$89.99.
The firmware you saw on DA's website is a custom firmware which DA himself has developed. It basically combines 1.50 and 3.40 together so that you can still have the capability of using the goodies from 1.50 as well as have all the features sony has implemented in 3.40. Since there is no downgrader for 3.40, there is no way for you to use DA's 3.40 oe-a.
