snes emulator problems

I have snes9xTYL 0.4.2. For some reason the roms run REALLY slow (not just bad framerate, although I do get only 6 or 7). the music is slow, the gameplay is slow and the framerate is unbearable. How could I go about fixing it?

Change clock speed to 333mhz. Enable frameskip of 1 or 2.

Tried taht and it didn't work. The framerate is fine now (chuggin' along at 40 something) but it's like there's a slow motion button being pressed 24/7

I think the lower you set the cpu clock the emu runs faster but the higher you set it means better sound quality.

Frameskip 2 usually works the best...

actually it was the sound that was the problem. I set the sound from "emulated, output" to "not emulated". runs like a charm. 60 fps smooth.
