Ok, what firmware are you on NOW? Version 1.50? If so, homebrew will already use the 1.50 kernel... but you'd need to upgrade to a custom firmware to get access to recovery mode again. What custom firmware was giving you issues?

Two issues now, damnit! ok so I'm on 3.40 oea. I can't use custom theme's either now, (disgusted *sigh*). my psp reboots when i edit my flash to a new theme that I had working and had to reinstall. No other themes are working either. grrr Minor frustration??? NO, MAJOR lol! doesn't help that i have no patients and it's most likely that I'm missing something

O.o
Ok, your probably just using the wrong themes. Make sure there for 3.40OE-A, and if not you can use a converter to convert top_menu to 3.40OE-A(I can't find the link right now to the program).
Besides that I don't really understand what your problem is??? Are you saying that right now, when you shutoff your psp (Hold the power button for 5 sec) the recovery menu won't even come up?

ditto

Thats the same thing happening to my PSP. I can't get into recovery mode. The PSP reboots whenever I try to enter recovery mode. Sometimes recovery mode appears for a second then vanishes. My firmware is 3.40 OE-A and I want to swich it back to 1.50 kernel. Is their any other way to enter recovery mode?
I was just starting to have fun with my emulators then I switched to 3.40 OE-A just to experiment . Now I can't go back to kernel 1.50. Please help.

Don't use firmware 3.40 oe-a then. Upgrade to a higher custom firmware.

sounds like your psp's have been sniffing some drugs lol j/k

but seriously, if your going into your flash0 and 1 folders, don't mess with anything unless you know
what you are doing.

As for the configuration issue, go into your flash1 folder and delete config.se, it worked for me one time.

There are many flash0 modifications that are made specifically for certain firmwares. From here on out, make sure to read what firmware your particular files are for. That way, you won't ever have these same headaches again.

seemingly random rant!

I suppose Bricking my PSP would suck, but how do you ever know what your doing if you never do it? I'm of the oppinion that you all know what you are doing, right? How did you learn, did you read it from a book? Were you born with knowledge of a console that wasn't even around when you were born? NO! You must have done exactly what I'm doing, read do, learn, do more, learn more, ask more questions and become learned in a subject. The cost of the entertainment and knowlege is worth my PSP at this point. I want to know more, so I'm gonna step over some lines that Sony has drawn.
So to say if you don't know what your doing, do nothing; is gonna make me a little irratated. I don't have a ton of knowlege, I'm learning by doing, and I am greatful when people lend a hand. /bow to you. When I feel like there is a hand trying to push me down. I'm gonna fight back. DON'T tell me not to mess with my flash. It's my PSP and it's my choice to break it or take the chance.

PS this is not aimed towards you Diehard. I understand being cautioned as opposed to being told.
