eh ... soldering an analog... hate to be you man. Good luck though ;) lol Just try not to keep the iron on the board too long. It's sensitive.

I fixed a red ring of death issue on an xbox once. Luckily for me, the red light was b/c there was like a "cut" in the IDE wire to the hard drive... so lame... to think that a company would sell something so obviously doomed to fail. It was a clearly visible defect as soon as I opened the thing up.

mine i think is over heating. i slapped on some artic silver but no go. it comes ON atleast. i think a tracer is cut. or maybe its because the fans wire is fading. microsoft built the worst piece of equipment i ever worked with. one of the RAM chips has two yellow spots on it... could be a burn or its wore out. as you can see i have my work cut out for me

Eh, at least from what I hear (I know nothing about xbox 360's btw, I was just reasearching the heating problems before I get one for Christmas) the new falcon motherboards are coming out some time at the end of this month or november. Or something like that. But of course, I will prolly end up switching out the heatsink for some crazy heatsink off newegg or something, or maybe even water cool the thing if I can get the money. idk, plenty of stuff you can do though to reduce heat. Which of course im definitely going to do. I also saw the specs on the talismoon double fans and they move like (I think it was) 40% more CFM then the stock fan and also like 10dB lower then the stock fan too at 12v. That combined with 65nm dye on the cpu (hopefully they will put 65nm on the gpu before my parents purchase one), some artic silver, and the new awesome heatsinks should help a good bit on the heating effect. But if anything, you could pop in a water cooling system on that thing and solve all your problems! lol.

I was reading that the attatchment thing that goes to the back of the 360 (intercooler?) voids the warranty. It also melts to the back of the xbox 360

Ah shoot, it doesn't void the warranty. I saw those comments to and as far I I believe it's a bunch of pricks that have no life making stupid comments. I don't see how it could possibly void the warranty, and no it shouldn't melt to the back. If you ever look at a pic of it, all it is, is a plastic case with 3 80mm fans in it. That's it. It doesn't necessarily improve cooling, but it doesn't really hurt i don't think. I'm unsure of the melting point for plastic is though, but I'm pretty sure enough heat isn't coming out of the back of the xbox to make a difference. If anything you could get some kick@$$ fans from newegg and replace the stock ones in those intercoolers.

It wasnt on comments. It was from a microsoft executive. He said since its pulling energy through the power supply or something.
