It took me a couple days to learn some basic tools with C++ reading that dawgon book "C++ for dummies" a year or two ago. I mostly learned about variables and boolean variables and that's about it. I learned enough to make a simple calculator program :p Nothing big. But going back with what asaddsit say'd, I would suggest making a app though first instead of a game. Since it's more simple, and really all you could do is start off with like a simple file manager program and keep building little doo-dads onto it. Like whatever you think is cool, just add it to the program. Before you know it you would've made the next IR Shell :p

And believe me, I can't wait till x.xxMRN firmware comes out, I'll be the first person to download it and point out the major flaws ;) I'll point out the good points too :p

Do not give firmware to list:

1.) Sony

2.) Ace

But make shure you can recover u r psp so you dont totally jack it up. Lol, you probobly need a A+ in math too.

Oh, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean then about messing with the Eboot, I went and opened a view on my computer and saw a whole bunch of coding and about a thousand "Ú"s which was weird.

Does that dummy book let you know how to do that on PSP's

No it doesn't specifically relate to psp's, it just teachs you C++ in general which you will need to start out with ;)
It's pretty understandable for anyone with common sense and an IQ above a peanut.

Alrighty then how will I be able to go from that to an app on the PSP?

Here's a site I used to go to but forgot the link. Thank goodness it's like the #3 hit on google when you look up lua tutorials. There supposed to be having C++ tutorials some time.

http://www.pspro.co.uk/forums/

Try google.

Here are some C tutorials on that site close to the bottom of the page:

Now dont take me wrong coding isnt easy, but its not all that hard either. It takes the abilty to use basic logic and to be able to think in a code based mind set,to be plain and simple some people cant do it. Some pick it up very easy. I know that when i first started i used the basic code and came up with some very complicated (And long) Works that could have been done with very few lines if i had read more.
So with that said, the point in trying to make.
Dont let the fears of others scare you,but also dont let you mind set only be on the project that you started out to make, get a good code book and code along with it,start your own projects and not just the suggestions of the book this will help you learn. And it will go a lot faster. Then after you get a good hand on it and have done a few projects just take a flying leap and make that customfirmware.

what he said. i think i might actually look into this stuff too (not actually make a custom firmware or anything, but to know the basics and use it in everyday life.. or however you use it) i think it would be kinda neat to mess around with some stuff, maybe make a small game. nothing fancy.

See what i refer to as basics is being able to decypher and understand coding...Something like reading the coding of custom firmwares and understanding what everything means and how everything works FLUENTLY (if you follow) Myself, I havent actually bothered to learn much about coding as it doesnt really float my boat. So you would probably know more about time estimates than I would as i'm just going based off of what i've read for the time length it took for other people to grasp the aptitude of coding. Some people it takes about 6 monthes, others take a little longer, some a little shorter. Anyways like i mentioned before grab some books from the bookstore dedicate your evenings to reading them and in time you'll learn how to do stuff. As everyone else has mentioned, learn how to create something small like a game, something like pong to start and then learn how to port it to the psp. Google for some websites, i know i've seen quite a few around when i was looking for some tips on hex editing.

Good luck tho
